Common Questions about Canvas Courses
How will Canvas instructional courses be created?
As with itslearning, course creation will be programmatic based on scheduling in eSchool. Teachers who are not scheduled (ie. Gifted and Talented) will have an instructional course created programmatically. Courses will be created and curriculum pushed in August.
If I teach multiple sections of a course, will I have one course card or multiple? Will I need to merge courses?
Teachers will get multiple course cards and can choose to cross-link (similar to itslearning Course Merge). Student groupings will maintain.
How will quarterly Unified Arts courses be scheduled?
These are scheduled by quarter. There will be a course for each quarter/section. These courses can be cross-linked.
If I create something in my Sandbox Course now, can I use it next year?
Yes, teachers will have their sandboxes beyond summer, and yes they can create content in their sandboxes and move it to their instructional courses come August. Reminder: information around moving content from itslearning to Canvas will be shared April 19.
Are you ready to practice creating in your Sandbox course?
Having used the itslearning LMS, our staff has foundational knowledge for what they can do in the Canvas LMS. The itslearning vs. Canvas Content and Design video provides a sneak peek about how to design in Canvas!
