Pendle Hill Public School News
Term 2 Week 9
A Message From The Principal
Dear Parents/Carers,
Next week students will receive reports on their Semester 1 progress. Teachers have reported on the learning outcomes students have achieved across the semester. There is some change to the areas reported on within English and Mathematics for Years 3-6 due to the new Mathematics syllabus introduced this year. When discussing your child's progress with them it is important to talk to them about the effort ratings as these indicate how well the child is trying in class and whether the teacher believes they are working to their best capacity. Everyone has different capabilities but it is important for learning that children try their best at all times. Your child's attendance will also be included in the report and an indication given as to whether that attendance is satisfactory. To learn best children need to attend school every day they can unless unwell they should be at school. If you have questions about your child's report please contact their teacher.
We are celebrating NAIDOC Week next week as it falls in the school holidays. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous cultures on earth. Classes will participate in activies across the week to focus on building understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture.

Attendance News
Attendance Matters
We want to do all we can to be sure your child achieves their potential and enjoys being in school.
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning .
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day per fortnight, that's 4 weeks of missed learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 1 year of lost learning.
A reminder that planned travel should only be taken during school holidays and students should be at school every day during school term, right from beginning to end.
