Bobcat Weekly Update
We Know Every Child by Name and by Need
November 10, 2017
Lakeview Leaders,
I am not sure how we are staring down the middle of November but here we are. This morning's Veterans Day Program was definitely a highlight of the year so far. Thank you Patty, Fawn, Heather, Gailanne, Renee, and Ann (and anyone else I missed) for the great performance. There were many "teary" eyes and lots of appreciative hugs.
Enjoy your weekend!
Social-Emotional Learning
I watched a video at a meeting this week and it made me think of our campus's dedication to knowing our students as well as creating a culture to meet the social-emotional needs of our students.

Personal Day Reminder
Absences
Discretionary Personal Days must be approved prior to being put into AESOP. The form must be submitted to Cindy at least five days in advance for approval and once approved she will email you and then you can submit through AESOP to the principal. It is the teachers’/paraprofessional’s responsibility to make sure you still have discretionary personal days. If you do not have personal days left in your leave bank than you will be docked for the time off. Discretionary personal leave may not be taken for more than five consecutive days. District policy is located in the NISD personnel handbook or online.
No more than 5% of a campus staff can take discretionary leave on the same day.
Please read the District handbook if you have questions concerning Leaves and Absences. If you elect to take a sick day instead of a personal day please pay attention to the Medical Certification paragraph on page 26. The 5 days of absences do not have to be consecutive. http://www.nisdtx.org/departments/human_resources/employee_handbook/
Writing Brigade - Postponed
Lakeview Learners Write Right!
Regardless, please stay vigilant about grade level writing conventions. ALL students should start sentences with capitals and as the year progresses, ALL students should be using punctuation at the end of sentences. Also, reinforce the importance of proper letter formation and always using their best printing.
Thank you!

TTESS Pre-conference Form
As we are finishing up our goal setting confernces, we can begin looking forward to TTESS observations. Below is the Pre-conference lesson planning form you will use during your TTESS Pre-conference. It also looks similar to last year, but we adjusted a few questions to ponder so they align better with our Problem of Practice and Instructional Focus.

The Teacher 50 - Reflect and Win!
Congratulations to 3rd Grade for winning the raffle for last week.
Third grade just did this! We have been studying different types of communities in social studies. We are also learning multiplication in math and using arrays as one method of instruction. Students chose an urban, suburban, or rural community and created an array word problem to match their community. We also had them write a narrative. The setting was their type of community. Students used descriptive language and sensory details to describe their setting and a character. The students loved it, and so did the teachers. We plan to try more activities like this one.
Third Grade- come on down to the office to choose your prize:)
