October PBIS Universal Question
October is bullying prevention month. At Houdini School, we talk and teach about bullying school-wide during assemblies, in grade level teams, and as homeroom classes during our social-emotional learning blocks (and throughout the day).
As a family, discuss whether the definition of bullying given is true or false. Let us know your child(ren)'s answer and we will share a SWOOP with them for participating!

Color your parrot for a chance to win a Razor Scooter!
National School Lunch week is October 14-18. The theme is "School Lunch Pirates: Find Your Treasure!" In celebration of this week, Chartwells sent each student home with a parrot coloring page. Participating students who turn in their coloring page by tomorrow 10/18 will have a chance to win a Razor Scooter!
To have a chance at winning the Razor Scooter, turn in the coloring page by 10/18. Each homeroom teacher will choose their favorite coloring page from the class and submit their finalist for our special judge to choose the winner! The winning student will be chosen the week of 10/21-10/24. Let's get coloring!
Join Us at Fall Into Wellness!
We're excited to invite you to an upcoming event for AASD parents/guardians, Fall Into Wellness, On Wednesday, October 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Einstein Middle School. Our event will feature 2 breakout sessions. Appleton Police Department will present about keeping youth safe online and with social media. Community Action for healthy living (CAHL) will be presenting on the risks of youth vaping and tips for families, a panel discussion focusing on mental health, with expert panelists offering valuable insights and tips for supporting your youth and family's wellbeing. We encourage you to attend these discussions and participate in the Q&A sessions. '
Additionally, don't miss out on our resource fair, where you can connect with community vendors offering mental health services, AODA information, and other programming available to families within the community. Although the discussions are geared towards grades 3-12, the resource fair will cater to all ages, with a special focus on middle school families. We've planned an engaging lineup of activities and discussions to promote family wellness. Be sure to join us for the chance to win some fantastic door prizes. We're dedicated to promoting family bonding and healthy choices, and we look forward to seeing you at the event!
