Principal Message
I hope this message finds you well. As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment, our students took part in The Panorama Education survey, which is designed to capture student voices and allow students to express their perspectives about teaching and learning, culture and climate, and their school experiences.
This survey aids us in gathering valuable insights into your child's emotional well-being, strengths, and areas where they may need additional support.
Supportive relationships is an area that the students have rated the highest of all of the areas. This area provides a strong foundation upon which our students can thrive. These relationships create an environment where students feel valued, respected, and safe.
Emotional regulation is an area that our students feel the most challenged. Emotional regulation is how well students regulate their emotions. An example question on the survey is: How often are you able to control your emotions when you need to?
As we continue to prioritize the social and emotional development of our students, I would like to share some thoughts on how we can team up in fostering emotional regulation both at school and at home. Here are a few things you can do at home:
Model Emotional Regulation: Students learn by example. It is important to manage your own emotions and demonstrating empathy and understanding.
Teach Coping Strategies: Teach your student practical coping strategies such as deep breathing exercises, mindfulness techniques, or engaging in activities they enjoy.
Setting Limits: Establish clear boundaries and expectations for behavior while also providing opportunities for your child to make choices and solve problems independently.
By working together, we can promote emotional regulation by empowering our students to navigate life's ups and downs with resilience and confidence. Thank you for your partnership in this important endeavor.
In partnership,
Sam Ramirez

Withdrawing Students
If your student will NOT be returning to Lockwood* for the 2024-25 school year please let us know as soon as possible by completing this google form: https://go.nsd.org/lwwithdrawal.
* Current 5th graders attending an NSD middle school in 2024-25 do NOT need to complete this form. Please email any questions to Sonja Gill-More at sgillmore@nsd.org.
Families who are withdrawing from Northshore are expected to return any devices assigned to their students and all accessories such as bags and chargers before their last day.
What do I do with my computer over the summer?
Students currently in grades 2-5 returning to ANY NSD school for the 2024-25 school year will keep their assigned computing devices over the summer months to allow for continuous learning.
Students and families are expected to take care of their assigned devices by following NSD Chromebook Care guidelines, keeping it charged and in itβs protective case when not in use.
For support using their device, troubleshooting technical issues, or reporting damage over the summer, families should create a help ticket at http://go.nsd.org/studenttechhelp.
Families who wish to decline keeping a device should complete the opt-out form by Friday, June 14th. Here's the link to the opt-out form: https://go.nsd.org/optout. If opting out, students will keep their Chromebook at school the last week.
Students Withdrawing
Families who withdraw from Northshore are expected to return any technology devices assigned to their students, including computers, tablets, hotspots, and all accessories such as bags and chargers before their last day.
Please email Sonja Gil-More at sgillmore@nsd.org as soon as you are aware your student will be withdrawing at the end of the school year or over the summer. Withdrawing students who do not return their devices and accessories will be issued a fine for unreturned items.
