WHAT'S HAPPENING
THANK YOU! Bus Driver Appreciation Day is May 6
Join us on May 6 as we recognize and thank our school bus operators for keeping the safety of our students their first priority. We encourage you, and your children, to take a moment to say thanks to our bus operators—who go above and beyond to provide safe and timely transportation to our students.
On behalf of Ardrossan Jr. Sr. Highschool THANK YOU to all of our school bus operators for a job well done.
Attention all grade 11 students
On May 14th, the entire grade 11 class will be attending the 2024 Holocaust Symposium at the Stanley A Milner Library in Edmonton. There is no cost for this field trip as bussing has been covered by the Social Studies Department and from the Jewish Federation of Edmonton. A permission form has been sent out earlier this week. Please submit as soon as possible. Busses will leave the school at 8:50 am and return to school at approximately 1:00. Parent volunteers are needed for this event. Please indicate if you can attend via Permission Clicks and also email rita.purdy@eips.ca
The symposium program will include a Canadian Holocaust survivor, Marie Doduck, sharing testimony with students, some basic contextual elements and a lecture by University of Alberta professor, Geoffrey Dipple, on the history of antisemitism in relation to the Holocaust. Students will also receive a copy of Marie's book A Childhood Unspoken courtesy of the Azrieli Foundation.
Students that have already signed up please come see Ms. Purdy for a copy of the book.

Counsellor's Corner
Canada Summer Jobs is a government program that helps employers create jobs for young Canadians across the country. These jobs are then posted on the federal Job Bank for a limited time to help young people find them. New jobs will be added regularly as they’re approved for funding by the Canada Summer Jobs program. To apply for one of these jobs, you must be:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age and
- Legally entitled to work in Canada—which means you must have a valid Social Insurance Number.
In addition to the Canada Summer Jobs program, there are several other resources available to young Canadians, including government work placements, paid internships and volunteer opportunities.
