As we close the first nine weeks of school, let's celebrate our achievements and look ahead with excitement for the next nine. A special congratulations to our early graduates who are moving on to new adventures—your hard work has paid off! We also want to extend a warm welcome to our new students for our second quarter; we’re excited to have you as part of our school community. As we continue forward, let's all remember the shared responsibility we have in maintaining a safe, respectful environment where everyone can thrive. Together, with positivity and care, we can make this year one of growth, success, and lasting memories. Here's to a strong finish and an even brighter future!
Respectfully,
Dennie Marenco, Ed.D.

1) Congratulations on completing your high school credits early! How does it feel?
I feel so relieved after finishing my last few credits, but it's also hard to believe that I'm finally done with everything and it's kind of overwhelming.
2) What helped you stay motivated to accomplish your high school diploma? I just kept telling myself that I won't have to do any of these school projects anymore when I finish school and that I would finally get a job after I graduate.
3) What's next? I'm still not sure what comes next after school. I'm still thinking whether or not I should go to college.
4) How do you self-care? Maintaining a healthy lifestyle by eating proper meals and going on daily walks to clear my head, trying not to lose my sanity after stressing over homework.
5) "Secret" talent? I don't know what my secret talent is...maybe being good at building games, like Minecraft

How long you've worked at Thornton? since 2018!
Not-so-secret secret about yourself: I’ve been married to my husband Pete for just about 40 years! I’m too old for secrets. I’m actually an open book…just ask
How do you self-care? hobbies
What's a piece of advice you could give to your high school self? You were right all along…And keep collecting…And watch out who you trust.
What do you love most about the Thornton community: the family feel. Not perfect but always trying. Giving everyone space to be themselves but also grow and change a little. The only thing I ever wanted to be was a parent. I was born in 1960, that was not a popular choice in the 60’s. But I knew I understood the "mom" job in a way that the adults around me didn’t. I wanted to do it my way. Pete and I did well - created two amazing adults. My job here is a bit like "momming"...helping kids get through the day as productively as possible.
Anything else you want to share? I love making things, so I want to share that with the students, seeing the value in things that interest them, and helping them with projects, posters, crafts, sewing etc…whenever I can. Doing hands-on projects now will help students see what they are able to create. And practical skills like sewing and ironing never hurt anyone.
