GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
New: Educational Benefits - More Than Just Lunch
Families are encouraged to complete an Educational Benefits Application. Your children may qualify! Applications are now open.
While meals are free for all students, all families are highly encouraged to complete an Application for Educational Benefits. Your approved application provides critical funding to our school district. This compensatory aid helps increase funding for teachers, paraprofessionals and social workers to include math and reading support. An approval for educational benefits also allows families to receive discounted Activities/Community Education fees. Learn more about the Educational Benefits Program.
Questions or concerns: ask our Nutrition Services department at Nutrition@district196.org or 651-683-6958.
New: Got Schoology?
Parents, if you’d like to keep up with your student’s grades on Schoology, but don’t want to log in every day, you can set up an automatic e-mail from Schoology to go to your e-mail once a week.
If you are interested, here are the directions:
- Log in to Schoology as a parent. https://app.schoology.com/login
If you haven’t yet created an account, go here: Creating a Parent Schoology Account
- After you are logged in, click on your name near the upper right corner of your screen. A drop down will open up. Click on your student’s name. That gets you into their account.
- Now click on their name that in in the upper right hand corner of the screen. When the dropdown opens up, click on SETTINGS to get in to the settings of their account.
- There should now be two tabs that appear near the upper left part of your screen. One is NOTIFICATIONS and one is ACCOUNT SETTINGS. Click on NOTIFICATIONS.
- Here you can choose what notifications you want to receive. For example, you can choose e-mail Summary ON, and WEEKLY; then choose the day of the week and what time you’d like the email (ex: click on Friday and choose 2pm - that way you know going into the weekend what they may need to catch up on; it also lets you give them a “Good Job” going in to the weekend if everything is looking good).
- If you have more than one student, you’ll need to repeat the process for each student.

STUDENT SECTION
New: Calling All Students for WIN Wednesday!
Students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm – 4:15pm in the flex room located in the learning commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. In addition students can also utilize the WIN program to make up tests they may have missed. Students can get this approved through their teacher ahead of time and the test will be ready for them to take during WIN. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (“What I Need” or “What’s Important Now”), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:40pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 4:45pm.
Library & Textbook Returns Reminder
Attention Parents: Not all textbooks were returned at the end of last school year. Please take a moment to check your shelves and desks for any textbooks that need to be returned for use by this year’s students. All materials can be dropped off in the Learning Commons during school hours.
Thank you for your assistance!

CLASS OF 2025 SECTION
New: Calling All Senior Parents
Are you a Senior parent? Come join in the fun of planning your senior’s last hurrah of their year - the overnight senior party!
This is a time-honored tradition after graduating, giving seniors the chance to party at the school one last time after graduation. The night is full of games and activities, fun with friends, and the chance to win prizes.
This night can’t happen without a LOT of help from senior parents. The more people involved, the less time spent by each parent for planning and helping.
Join us on Tuesday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Commons area. Our first task will be deciding on a theme. We’ll also have information on all of the committees, and you can commit to taking on a small task, or helping lead a committee. We specifically are looking for help with fundraising and fundraising event planning.
If you can’t commit to planning, but have connections to local businesses who may help with items for the event or helping to fund the event, that help is also very much welcomed.
Look for more information in the future for how you can help out planning the party of the year!
Questions? Reach out to Trace Ulland (tjulland@gmail.com or 952-240-0594) or Andrea Spessard (andrealeap76@gmail.com or 612-237-7756).
Seniors! Submit Your Senior Photo to the Yearbook!
The deadline for submitting your senior photo to the yearbook is NOVEMBER 15th, 2024.
Click here for Instructions for Senior Portrait Submission
To maximize the consistency of each senior portrait, our yearbook staff will be utilizing a vertical
"head/shoulder" photo. No props (athletic equipment, instruments, etc.) and no SnapChat filters will be
permitted. This type of portrait allows us to provide consistency in our photos, as well as offer the most clarity in space provided for each senior. The yearbook staff reserves the right to crop any submitted picture to meet these expectations.
