Principal's Message
Dear MMK Families,
As we pause to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day this Monday, it's a fitting time to reflect on our school's mission of ensuring all students have the knowledge, skills, motivation, and confidence to be successful citizens. Dr. King's legacy reminds us of the power of education and community in creating positive change.
I'm pleased to share that our first semester concluded last Thursday, January 16th. Report cards will be mailed home in the coming weeks, providing you with a comprehensive update on your student's academic progress. This marks an important milestone in our academic year and offers an opportunity to celebrate achievements and set goals for the semester ahead.
Our student-athletes continue to demonstrate outstanding performance and sportsmanship. Congratulations to our MMK Storm and Celtics basketball teams on their recent victories. Special recognition goes to our players who showed exceptional teamwork and determination in their weekend games.
This week, I encourage families to attend our District Facility Planning Meeting on Thursday at 6:00 PM. Your input and engagement are valuable as we plan for our school's future. Our high school basketball teams will also face Willapa Valley on Tuesday and Ocosta on Friday, both games starting at 5:30 PM.
I'm particularly proud to recognize this week's GRIT award recipients. These students exemplify our values of Growth, Resilience, Intensity, and Tenacity. Their commitment to excellence and positive attitudes contribute significantly to our school culture.
For our secondary students, remember that our tutoring program continues to run Tuesday through Thursday from 3:00 to 4:30 PM, offering valuable academic support as we begin the new semester.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Mary M. Knight a community where every student can thrive.
Go Owls!

Secondary Tutoring - Are you in grades 7-12 and want tutoring?
Dear MMK Families,
Our secondary tutoring program continues to provide academic support for students in grades 7-12. The program runs Tuesday through Thursday from 3:00 to 4:30 PM, offering students direct assistance from teachers on assignments and assessments.
Students must attend the full session unless prior arrangements for early pickup are confirmed by parents. While this is a valuable opportunity for academic support, families need to arrange transportation at 4:30 PM, as bus service is not available. Please note that tutoring should not be used as a waiting period for after-school events.
For questions about the program, please contact the main office.
