Puma Pounce
October 12th, 2024
Hello Pumas!
Welcome to this week's Puma Pounce! We have some great info in this newsletter including a Jog-A-Thon update, Dining for Dinero, school clubs info, Green Team intro and more.
Jog-A-Thon
We had such a great time at our Jog-A-Thon on Thursday! All of the students did an amazing job showing their school spirit and really pushing themselves to meet their lap goals. We want to personally extend a huge thank you to Noemà Sarabia Feria and Teresa Haney for chairing this event (a huge undertaking), Kelly Kemper for supporting and preparing our students before and during the event and to the countless volunteers and teachers that helped on the day of to make this an incredible event. If you attended Jog-A-Thon and have photos you are willing to share, please email them over to yearbook@milwaukieelpuentepto.org.
We are so excited to see that we are nearly two thirds of the way towards reaching our goal with just over $9,000 raised. Let's push just a bit further to get ourselves over the goal line, I know we can do it! Please remember to set up your child's PledgeStar account and bring in your envelopes with cash/check donations. If you need a new envelope, please reach out and we can send a new one home. Envelopes are due on Monday, October 21st. And lastly, remember that while we welcome donations year round, the 21st will be the final day for pledges to count towards class and school celebrations!
Dining for Dinero
Our first Dining for Dinero event is coming up this Wednesday, October 16th. Please visit Neighborhood Creamery from 5PM - Close and tell them you are there to support Milwaukie El Puente! Invite your family, friends or neighbors and make an evening of it! 25% of each order will go back to the school. See our flyer here.
Take a selfie/picture at the creamery with your ice cream and tag us on Instagram or Facebook @MilwaukieElPuentePTO (or send to president@milwaukieelpuentepto.org if you don't do social media) and you'll be entered for a chance to win a pie or traditional wreath from our Winter Sale.
October PTO Meeting
Our next PTO meeting is this Thursday, October 17th from 6:30PM - 7:30PM in the library. Spanish interpretation provided.
Join us at 6:15PM to mingle and have some coffee/tea/hot cocoa and light snacks. We have some good updates and information for this meeting, we hope to see you there! Our agenda is linked here.
Clubs
We received some good interest from our last newsletter and we're excited to announce that starting Tuesday, November 5th, we are partnering with the school to open the front doors at 7:00AM and will be offering some fun activity options as well as snacks for the students from 7:00AM - 7:45AM! We will have more information coming out soon, please stay tuned. If you are interested in volunteering to help during this time, please reach out to us at volunteers@milwaukieelpuentepto.org.
We are still looking for more families to show their interest so please click here to show yours and/or give suggestions for possible club opportunities.
Winter Sale
Our Winter Sale orders will open the week of October 21st. Order forms will be sent home with students and we will have an online ordering option available as well. Stay tuned for more information.
Volunteering
If you haven't had a chance to fill out the volunteer application and you would like to, please click here. We have some fun activities coming up and there will be many opportunities for volunteers, big and small.
PLEASE NOTE: You are required to be an approved volunteer by NCSD before you are able to volunteer for any event at our school; this includes field trips, classroom volunteering, events, etc. Submitting this application does not sign you up for any activity with Milwaukie El Puente. Green Team Introduction
"Your Green Team began last year as a small group of parents who wanted to inspire and support their Milwaukie El Puente community to live more sustainably.
Our goal is to uncover ways to turn eco-friendly ideas into projects at our school. Specifically, we hope to create opportunities for both staff and families to reduce waste, protect the environment, and learn how improving the health of an ecosystem can improve the health of the people within it."
