Viking Families,
We are thrilled to share with you our new weekly newsletter. We hope you will find the newsletter to be informative, celebratory, and aesthetically pleasing.
As we close out February, I want to highlight our student community who have been active and involved in so many ways this month. Our Black Student Union, Alpha Achievers, Young Women with Purpose, Mens Rising and our Scholars have been pivotal in putting together a myriad of events for Black History Month. We have celebrated the achievements and contributions of many famous African American past and present. Students participated in spirit week, trivia and movie night, door decorating contest, and through lessons in the classroom.
We want to highlight the achievements of the following groups who participated and competed this month:
- Chamber Choir participated in the HCPSS Music Festival
- Winter Sport Athletes – many of whom were successful in county, regional, and state playoff competitions – Wrestling County and Regional Champions, Wrestling State contenders; Girls and Boys Basketball county and regional playoffs.
- Recognition of our National Champion Economics Challenge Team in Annapolis.
It is exciting that March is already here! Spring sports tryouts start today, the return of Daylight Saving Time, and Spring Break are on the horizon. Our hope is that you will continue to stay connected with us by reading our newsletter each week to find out what is going on here at school.
With Viking Spirit and Pride,
Katie Clark, Principal
