Band Buzz: April 14, 2024
I believe we should all pay our taxes with a smile...
...I tried, but they wanted cash.
That calendar looks amazingly bare this week. Hope you all are able to enjoy some downtime. UIL is right around the corner.
Volunteers Needed
Foreign Exchange Hosts
Still looking for one family to host our musically-gifted students from overseas. See details below
Band/Color Guard banquet (May 10th)
Please be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities for our annual banquet this coming May. It's a great way to let our kids know we appreciate all their hard work. Tickets on sale below.
From the Directors:
Thank you to everyone who performed and volunteered this afternoon for the Blessing of the Fleet! The kids had a fun time, sounded great and were treated to some fancy chicken fried steak.
We would like to invite all parents and family to our Pre-UIL Concert on Tuesday. All three concert bands will be performing their three UIL pieces. Please note that the order of bands will be reversed from what we usually do. Wind Ensemble will perform first at 7:00 p.m. so that we can warm up on stage. We will be recording the Wind Ensemble for TMEA Honor Band submission. After the wind ensemble is done, the Symphonic Band will take the stage, and we will conclude with the Concert Band. Students will need to be in full concert uniform for this concert.

Foreign Exchange Student Looking for Hosts
We still have 1 student looking for a host family. Please consider opening your home.
I have found that band exchange students are most successful living with a host family who understands the rigorous and time-consuming practice and performance schedule required of band students. If anyone ends up hosting a student, my agency will donate $150 to the booster club as a thank you for getting the word out.
Students arrive with full medical insurance, and $ for copays, sports/extra-curriculars (including band fees), personal toiletries, cell phone plan, and outings with friends.
Host families can be single persons, single parents, or 2-parent families, or empty-nesters.
Host families provide a loving home, 3 meals a day, and a place to sleep.
Lucas, male, age 16, from Spain
Interests: Band/Chamber Orchestra (trumpet, piano, euphonium), soccer, sporting events, pets
Lucas loves music and plays in a local band. He is excited to learn about his host family’s culture and traditions. He also plays soccer. He hopes to study marketing after he graduates high school.
