All health screenings conducted in schools are required by Massachusetts Law. Screenings at Lilja School will begin this month and will be ongoing throughout the school year.
Vision Screening : Vision screening is conducted for all grades K – 4. The nurse will send a referral to parents if a follow up appointment is needed with their physician.
Hearing Screening: Hearing screening is conducted for all grades K - 3. The nurse will send a referral to parents if a follow up appointment is needed with their physician.
Growth Development Screening: Height and weight screenings are conducted for students in grades 1 and 4.
Parents and legal guardians have the opportunity to request, in writing, that their child not participate in the screenings. The request must be written each year and be specific to which screening you do not wish your child to participate. Please send this letter via email or hard copy to the nurse - Barbara Naser at bnaser@natickps.org
Thank you.
Things To Know
NO SCHOOL 10/14:
There will be no school on 10/14 in observance of Indigenous People's Day.
EARLY RELEASE 10/23:
Wednesday, 10/23 is an Early Release. Students are dismissed at 12:15.
READ FOR THE RECORD 10/24:
Kindergarten classrooms in elementary schools across Natick will be participating in 2024's Read for the Record! Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience, celebrating early literacy and supporting children’s early language and social-emotional development. The annual initiative raises awareness of the critical importance of early literacy and access to inclusive, high-quality books through shared reading. Lilja is excited to be welcoming Dr. Spash and school committee member Catherine Brunell among our guest readers for the day!
HARVEST FEST 10/31:
For this year, Lilja will engage in the traditional community Harvest Fest on 10/31. All students have the option of bringing a costume to school. As a reminder, here are our costume guidelines.
Relatedly, we will be looking further into this tradition, evaluating its cultural responsiveness and its potential impact on the psychological safety of community members. I anticipate being able to provide further updates by the end of this school year so that we enter next fall together with a clear vision.
