Principal's Message

Dear Nord Families,

As we approach the Thanksgiving season, I want to take this opportunity to express my personal gratitude to all of our Nord families. Thank you for your support and commitment to your child’s academic success. I am so thankful to be a part of the Walter G. Nord School community and to serve as your proud principal.

Amherst Schools will hold a Family First Night on Wednesday, November 13th. Enjoy a night off from homework and studying to be together as a family. Also, Thanksgiving Break is from Wednesday, November 27th to Friday, November 29th. School resumes on Monday, December 2nd. I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and send best wishes for a break filled with family, friends, love, and laughter!

Picture Retakes

Picture Retake Day is Monday, December 2, 2024. If you are not satisfied with your photos from the original Picture Day, return the entire package to receive your retake photos.

Outside Recess

Please make sure your child is coming to school with a coat, hat, and gloves this winter. Recess will be held outside when the feels-like temperature is 20 degrees or higher at the time of recess.

Nord School has a Care Closet which is run by Mrs. Kremer, School Counselor, and Ms. Maiorca, School Social Worker. Please email Mrs. Kremer or Ms. Maiorca if your family needs assistance with warm clothing this winter.

Clinic Announcements

From Mrs. Lowery, School Nurse:

Please consider sending a quick change of clothes to school to keep in your child's locker. We often only think of students having “accidents” as a reason to have a change of clothing, but more often than not, the need is related to food spills, puddles at recess or an art project gone wrong. While we do keep basics on hand in the clinic, often children would rather wear their own items. Having extra clothes available helps gets kids back on track faster than waiting for new clothes to arrive.

In addition, if your child has been sent home in pants labeled “NORD CLINIC” please wash and return as soon as you can.

Lastly, just a reminder as we're deep into cold/flu season, your child must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school.

Lost and Found

The Lost and Found at Walter G. Nord School is filling up fast! Please have your child check in the cafeteria for any missing items. All remaining items will be donated to charity over Winter Break so be sure to check today!

Dine-to-Donate

On the first Wednesday of each month, Nord PTO hosts a Dine-to-Donate fundraiser at a local restaurant. The next Dine-to-Donate fundraiser is on Wednesday, December 4th at Raising Canes. Flyers will be sent home with students before the event.

Winter Flower Sale

Paper order forms for the Winter Flower Sale were due on Tuesday, November 12th. The online sale runs until Monday, November 18th. Shop now to brighten your home and support our school!
