RISING 6TH GRADERS!! ESTUDIANTES DE 6º GRADO!!
Vaping Prevention Parent Workshop
All parents are invited to join us on Saturday, March 16 at 9:15 AM to participate in an important parent workshop on vaping prevention. We are partnering with Pathways2Life for this event to provide support to students and the adults who care for them in navigating through challenges in this time of life. Spanish translation will be available.
We have seen an increase in incidents involving students using vaping products at school. This includes both nicotine products and marijuana products. Vaping devices are small and easy to hide. While we are able to search a student's backpack and pockets if we suspect they are in possession of a vaping product, we are aware that students are concealing these devices in their undergarments (where we do not search). Without strong awareness and support from our parents, it will continue to be a challenge to prevent students from vaping at school. This is a risky behavior that impacts health and wellness and can lead to a negative academic impact. Even if you do not suspect that your child is vaping, knowing how to navigate when peers and classmates are engaging this behavior is a critical need for all young people.
We hope that you will join us!
Student Laptops
Each student has the opportunity to be issued a laptop for school use. We need parents to help us improve the number of students who come to school daily with a charged laptop. We do NOT have loaner laptops available for students in our inventory. Create a routine at home for students to plug in their laptop each night before bed, and bring their laptop to school every day! Thank you for your support.
