Weekly Update to Families
16-August-2024
Message from the Principal
Dear Goodwater Community,
What an incredible first week with our scholars! We’re off to a fantastic start and are poised for a great year ahead. Our teachers have dedicated this week to building relationships, setting and reviewing classroom expectations, and guiding students through common areas.
I’m pleased to report that our first day of dismissal went smoothly, even with the ongoing construction. We wrapped up at 3:55 pm, and I want to thank you for your patience and cooperation. For your convenience, I’ve included our arrival and dismissal information once again below. Familiarizing yourself with these will help ensure a smooth and efficient process.
Starting Monday, 8/19, your child will begin their instructional activities in the classroom. When your child comes home, please take a moment to ask them about their day. Research shows that this simple conversation can significantly aid in retaining what they've learned.
🎉 Remember, consistent attendance is key to your child’s success at Goodwater. Please make every effort to ensure they attend school each day. 🏆
Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

Safety Drills 24-25
Our campus will use the 'I Love You Guys' Standard Response Protocol (SRP) for emergencies for the 24-25 school year. To ensure everyone is prepared, we will conduct drills throughout the year. Parents will be notified before each drill takes place.
This week, teachers are reviewing the expectations for these drills, as well as other campus procedures. We encourage you to discuss safety expectations with your child and to reach out if you have any questions.

Note from Dr. Bruce
Hello Goodwater Families,
Hope this email finds you and your family well.
Thank you for choosing Goodwater Montessori School for your children and for your cooperation during this first week. We truly appreciate your support, especially with pick-up and drop-off, which went smoothly. We are hopeful that the road repairs will be completed this week, further improving the process.
This has been a good first week. We appreciate our parents/caregivers and students for all of the cooperation and support this first week. We are excited about this school year. Just a reminder that A-F Ratings, which were supposed to be announced today have been delayed due to litigation by several ISD School districts. We will keep everyone informed as we get updated information.
A couple of reminders:
- Coffee with Dr. Bruce - August 22nd
- August Board Meeting, Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Goodwater, 6:30 pm
Thank you again for your partnership as we kick off the 2024-2025 school year.
Have a great weekend.
Kindest Regards
Dr. Bruce
Meet Our New Instructional Assistant - Cassandra Jackson
We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Cassandra to the Goodwater Montessori family! Her commitment to nurturing and guiding children aligns perfectly with our philosophy, and we are excited to see how her expertise will enrich our community.
Outside of the classroom, Ms. Cassandra enjoys practicing yoga, spending quality time with her two orange cats, and exploring new hiking trails with her boyfriend. Her zest for life and love for adventure reflect her dynamic approach to both teaching and personal growth.
As we embark on this new school year, Ms. Cassandra is eager to contribute to the development and success of our students. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to her and making her feel at home here in Texas.

Montessori Moment
Goodwater Montessori had adapted the Montessori model to align with state standards and requirements while maintaining the core principles that make Montessori education effective.
The Benefits of Public Montessori Education
Equity and Accessibility: One of the primary advantages of Montessori in the public sector is its accessibility. Families from all socioeconomic backgrounds can access high-quality Montessori education, which was previously often limited to private settings.
Diverse Learning Communities: Public Montessori schools bring together children from various cultural and economic backgrounds, creating rich, diverse learning environments where students can learn from each other’s experiences.
Holistic Development: By focusing on the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally—Montessori education fosters well-rounded development, preparing students not just for academic success but for life beyond the classroom.
Long-Term Academic Success: Studies have shown that students in Montessori programs often perform better academically over time, demonstrating strong skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
The introduction of Montessori education into the public sector represents a significant shift in how we approach teaching and learning. By making Montessori principles accessible to all students, public schools can foster environments where children are empowered to take charge of their learning, develop critical life skills, and become confident, independent thinkers.
