Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-- So… I was in one of my secret hiding spots trying to crank out my newsletter a day early, when this crew rolled in to film a special project for drama(pictured here). They needed a quiet spot to work and they were nice enough to include me in their skit! The toughest medical school teacher you could ever have was Grace Fix, and her hard-working students, who were currently failing her class, were Anna Mitrofanov and Isabella McKenna. Video work was done by Madison Ramos. That was fun! The life of a principal can be as mundane or as interesting as you make it, true with many things in life really.
So after this video I got a radio call reminding me to report to the cafeteria for our annual cornhole tournament. Freshman counselor, Mrs. Twining, and I had a “friendly competition” with Nick and Mike. After that I made a couple of important phone calls, and before I knew it, 5th period started. Just so happens I was doing a podcast interview with Bridgett and Madison today as well. They asked me a couple of important questions about ‘why is it important to connect with your students?”, and “why is it important for you to be visible in and around our school?”. This couldn’t have been better timing, as my day had already illustrated why I do what I do. And it was meaningful to have an opportunity to explain that to the girls in my own words. Back to the idea of mundane vs interesting… It is important for young adults to get to know their school principal/leaders/teachers/staff. At Ridgeline, this is a core value, and isn’t viewed as what we do, rather, it’s who we are (slight borrow from Maverick). I believe we have a more vibrant culture, a more connected community, a safer environment, primarily because we make the time to connect with one another. We talked about our time together in high school being very significant from 14-18 years old, and at the same time it goes very fast. Our connections today with adults and peers will be ultimately important later on down the road. I said, we might run into eachother 10 years from now and we’ll always have the special connection that those high school years were “our” time.
Why not end the day on another high note with a staff vs student Unified basketball game. What a great moment for us to come together as a school community!
It’s March—so it’s VERDE LOCO month! Check out today’s flyer for important events, student highlights, athletics (ughhh, what a week for spring sports), and opportunities that may be relevant to your student and family. GO FALCONS!
Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt

Graphic Arts
The Graphic Arts 2 students created Silhouette Stories in Adobe Illustrator using real photos of their silhouettes, converting them into vector art, then filling them using the mask tools with images that represent who they are. Great work, graphic artists! Its so fun learning more about you through your artwork.
Congratulations to Ethan Rumpler and Maddison Stirtz for qualifying in the top 15 in the state on their role play tests which enables them to compete in the role play events at the FBLA State Conference in April! Way to go, Ridgeline FBLA officers!
AP Environmental Science- Mt. Spokane day
AP Environmental Science classes spent the day on Mt. Spokane learning about snow science. After snowshoeing up the mountain, students dug snow pits and collected data to calculate snow water equivalency (SWE). Classes will analyze their data and compare it to the national SNOTEL site to help predict aquifer recharge and fire danger for the next year.
We want to thank Kat Hall and The Lands Council for sponsoring and providing such valuable education.
If you're interested in real world, hands-on science, it's not too late to sign up for AP Environmental Science. See Ms. Larsen in C109 or see your counselor.
