Bring your own picnic dinner, dessert, or snack to enjoy on the playground

Families can also bring books to the picnic on June 3rd.

Start checking your shelves for age appropriate kid books your family has outgrown
and make space for new ones that you find at the book swap! Books at the swap should be appropriate for KG-5th grade, be in gently used condition (cover on, no rips or tears or coloring on pages). Please do NOT bring or send coloring, activitiy, sticker or religious books, magazines or adult titles. Please note: selection & number of books available will be based on the books donated.
Lynx Service Club Spring Global Project
Change Drive For Make a Wish!
Lewis and Clark raised $2,166.37 for the Lynx Service Club's Global Project this year! Thank you so much for your donations, every penny added up. We had two of our own Service Club students receive a Make A Wish and their story influenced our service club's decision to choose this worthy organization. Our school and the Lewis & Clark community are going to impact a young person and give them an amazing experience with the funds raised. THANK YOU for your donations. This school community is truly amazing!

From the Principal's Office
Hello L&C Families,
We are nearing June and the start of summer break, can you believe it? May promises to be a month filled with celebrations, special events, and enjoyable activities for all. It is a time to highlight and appreciate our dedicated teachers and staff during Staff Appreciation Week, and to recognize the hard work and commitment of our students throughout the year. Our students have reached significant milestones as both learners and valued members of our community. They will engage in field trips, collaborative grade-level activities, SPARK experiences, field day, and various unique events tailored to each grade, such as the 5th-grade Exhibition Day. Save the date for our end-of-year Picnic on the Playground during the final week of school. Join us in making the most of these memorable moments together!

Counselor's Corner: A Note From Ms. Myers
The Emotional Cup
The Emotional Cup refers to our emotional capacity. When our cups are full, we are able to think clearly, communicate our needs, and manage difficulty. Empty cups mean reduced capacity for these things. Learning how to best reset (fill our cup) can build coping skills and resiliency. If your child is coming home from school with an empty cup, consider how your child best refills his/her cup.
What drains a child’s cup: worries about school, not getting along with friends, long days without an attachment figure, conflict at home, yelling/punishments, being overscheduled
What fills a child’s emotional cup: play, preferred activities, 1:1 connection with an attachment figure, positive words, healthy friendships
A Last Note from Mrs. Morrison, Music Teacher
Dear Parents,
My heart is both sad and filled with joy to share with you the news of my retirement as your elementary school music teacher. When I reflect on teaching your children, I am so grateful for the privilege of instilling in them a love for music. We have shared countless memories, from lively music classes to heartwarming performances. It has been my honor to witness their growth and enthusiasm through playing various instruments and lifting their voices in song. Your children have not only learned about rhythm and melody but have also discovered the power of expression, creativity and working together to create something worthy of performance.
The years have flown by and though my time as your music teacher is coming to an end, the moments we have shared will forever echo in my heart. Thank you for entrusting me with the privilege of nurturing your children’s musical talents. It has been my honor to be part of the amazing Lewis and Clark community amongst wonderful families and an amazing staff.
With warmest regards,

Reminder about Phones, Watches & Toys
Please be mindful when sending phones or watch phones with your child to school. Students are asked to keep them in their backpacks during the school day. Also, please do not send toys from home unless invited for a class celebration. Toys are likely to get lost and often create distraction. Thanks for your help and understanding!
Please pick up after your pet on the playground fields!
If you bring your pet to school when dropping off or picking up your student(s), please be sure you pick up after your pet on school grounds and in the field. This is a health concern to keep our playground areas safe and inviting.
Remember! The shoes you save could be your own or your child's! There are bags at both the south and north end of the field.
Thank you!
Please send your child with safe PE shoes!
As the weather changes with spring coming, please be sure your student has appropriate PE shoes at school. Snow boots, Crocs and sandals are not appropriate or safe for PE activities. If providing PE shoes is a concern, please contact the Family Resource Center - frclewis@mcpsmt.org.
Attendance Superstars!
As we head into the final full month of the schoolyear, we want to champion attendance and students getting to school everyday. There is lots of important learning in the month of May, along with many class activities, field trips and school-wide events that students will not want to miss.
Please help your child finish the year strong by showing up!
We will recognize our "Attendance Superstars" the last week of school in June. Our "Attendance Superstars" are those students who have missed two days or less all year with on time attendance.
Thank you for supporting your child's learning by supporting their attendance!

for all children, parents, and staff.
Hello Lewis & Clark families!
April showers bring May flowers and tons of opportunities to get involved this spring at Lewis & Clark! Keep scrolling for details!
Please join us for our Outdoor Discovery Corp (ODC) clean up coming up on May 5th starting at 11:00am. Bring your rakes, wheelbarrows, gloves etc. as there is a lot to be done and so many great helping hands will help us get the ODC ready for spring! Thank you for helping to make our outdoor space beautiful!
We are also excited to announce that our PTA was able to award nearly $6,000 in teacher grants in April to staff and teachers for classroom sets of books, supplies, field trips, and transportation for field trips, as well as support the Climbing Club and replace ropes and other safety climbing equipment. We are also excited to be working closely with the Lewis & Clark Student Council. The Lewis & Clark student council surveyed fellow students and presented their request for the PTA to fund permanent shade structures for the Lewis & Clark playground and have them professionally installed. What an awesome idea! We are so fortunate as a PTA to be able to supplement where it is most needed for our staff, teachers and students. Thank you!!
Thanks for making Lewis & Clark such a special place! Go Lynx!
