Caroff's Corner
It's Thanksgiving Week! Be safe, eat a lot, and watch some football!
Take a look below for many upcoming events including our annual food drive sponsored by Builders Club - (there's two days left) led by Mrs. Weaver, Topper Shop Pop Up at an upcoming Boys Basketball game, and a Yearbook video by the talented Mrs. Ceraolo.
Winter Sports photos have been rescheduled for December 5th - the link is still below for those who want to order early.
Heart Day is in the books for our Fourth grade students. We truly appreciate the many volunteers who gave their time to discuss how to maintain a healthy heart, the functions of our heart and how important it is as an organ in our bodies. Check out the link to the photos from the day.
A shout out to Mr. Siko for also sharing some photos from a recent Basketball game - Let's Go Toppers! You can see those photos below, too!
Ready to enjoy time with family,
Craig Caroff
There's Still Time: Builders Club Holds Annual Food Drive
Builders Club is holding a food drive and there's two days left! November 25th and 26th. All goods benefit The Geauga Hunger Task Force. Non perishable food items such as canned vegetables and boxes of pasta will be collected in Homerooms. The class from each grade that collects the most food will earn free time during Flex. If you have any questions please contact Amanda Weaver (amanda.weaver@chardonschools.org)
A Special Thank You from our Sixth Grade Team!
The 6th Grade Team would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the families who have generously supported our Water Week campaign, helping to raise both awareness and funds for the organization Drink Local Drink Tap. Your contributions are making a meaningful difference, and we deeply appreciate your involvement.
We’re thrilled to announce that, thanks to your incredible support, we have exceeded our goal and raised a total of $2,826!
Every dollar donated to our Drink Local Drink Tap campaign will support two schools in Uganda: Ttama Primary School and St. Mugagga Junior School in Luwero. The funds will be used to build essential infrastructure that improves access to safe water and sanitation for these communities.
Ttama Primary School (serving 909 people) is in urgent need of new toilets, as their current facilities are cracked, unsafe, and in disrepair, putting students’ health at risk. They require $20,000 to construct new toilet facilities, including hand washing stations and two bathing buildings for students who live on campus.
St. Mugagga Junior School (serving 341 people) currently depends on a small rainwater tank but often has to fetch water from a dangerous, open pond—4 km round trip. They need $8,000 to install a 20,000-liter rainwater harvesting system along with classroom water filters.
Drink Local Drink Tap is aiming to raise $30,000 in total for these projects. The funds will also support community training, the creation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) committees, the planting of fruit trees, and the installation of educational signage promoting hygiene and safe water practices.
Thank you once again for your generous support. We are incredibly grateful for your partnership and support!

New Message from Ms. Jenn in the CMS Clinic
Hello Parents,
I can't believe we are in the holiday season already.
It has been hectic in the clinic thus far. I have seen over 4,800 visits as well as have done over 300 vision /hearing tests.
If you feel your child is ill please keep them home. If you do send them to school, know I will try the interventions I have here before calling you. ( hot pad, rest, mint, crackers, cold pack)
I call parents with every 2nd visit of the day, failed healing with intervention tried, fever, vomiting, injuries, or anything following the school health guidelines.
We are seeing Flu, RSV, and mycoplasma pneumonia in the community. Please review with your child proper cough/cold etiquette, handwashing, and how to properly blow their nose.
Feel free to call me if needed.
Happy Holidays !!

Winter Team Pictures Rescheduled for December 5th
Exciting news! CMS will be participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee this year!
Each student at CMS will be taking a spelling bee assessment in their ELA classes on December 2. Once all tests have been graded, the top spellers from each class will be invited to take part in a live, class-style, school-wide spelling bee December 18th in the LGIR! Parents, caregivers and siblings will be welcome to come watch their Bee participant in action.
Our TOP speller in the building will then advance to the Geauga County Bee on February 6th!
Next rounds include the Tri-County Bee (Geauga, Ashtabula, Lake Counties) - February 18 - and the 2025 National competition in May, held in Washington D.C.
Topper up! Help your child prepare by downloading the Scripps “Word Club” app for studying. This app includes all the possible 450 words selected for this year's Spelling Bee competition!
Have you joined our CMS PBIS rewards yet?
During the first week of school, all families received personalized QR codes to join PBIS rewards to see your student's information as it relates to positive behavior choices in the building. If you have not joined yet, please consider doing so by scanning the code you received and signing up to receive notifications.
If you need another QR code, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher or Ms. Paroubek to access another copy.
Thanks for partnering with us on this new system!
