Welcome Letter to ASI Families
Let's Get Rolling, 2024 - 2025!
WELCOME TO ASI!
Dear ASI Parents and Guardians,
On behalf of my faculty and staff, welcome to Alta Sierra Intermediate School! We are excited to start a new school year at ASI and look forward to getting to know you and your student.
Parent Updates will be sent out to you every week in August and September with new school information. Newsletters will begin monthly in October. Please read them with your student to stay informed about Alta Sierra Intermediate.
Have a Great Year!
Jennifer Carter : ASI Principal
Theme for the Year: Every Student, Every Day!
Did you know...? Why Daily Attendance Matters:
Missed Lessons = Falling Behind: Even one day can mean missing critical instructions and activities, making it harder for your child to catch up.
Impact on Future Success: Consistent attendance is a strong predictor of academic achievement and future opportunities.
Building Resilience: Regular attendance teaches your child the value of perseverance and responsibility—essential skills for success in life.
Stronger Friendships: Daily presence helps your child develop and sustain friendships, which are crucial for emotional and social development.
Healthy Routine: Attending school every day establishes a stable routine, promoting better mental and physical health.
Who to contact if your child doesn't want to come to school: Mrs. Mennucci & Mrs. Tenney: Counselors
STUDENT ARRIVAL
Traffic the 1st few weeks of school is very busy! There are close to 4500 students attending the 3 schools in the Buchanan Educational complex. Lots of parent and student drivers. (All students can get a free breakfast before school or at break, so an option is that they can eat here to save you time.)
It is strongly recommended that you drop your student off as close to 8:05am daily as possible.
With the exception of students in Zero Period PE and Percussion, students may not arrive on campus earlier than 8:00am.

With no cost meals for ALL students, no student will ever go hungry during the school day unless they elect to do so.
At the secondary level, students are not required to eat lunch.
LUNCH LINES
Lunch lines are long the first few weeks of school! But ALL students have time to eat. At the secondary level students walk themselves to the lunch line. We have 2 lines open inside the MPR and 3-4 lines open at the windows outside the MPR.
Students can wait until lines go down to get in line to get a lunch.
DROP OFF POLICY
ALTA SIERRA DOES NOT HAVE A DROP OFF TABLE
Deliveries:
Alta Sierra does not accept deliveries for students from any food delivery sources. (Grub Hub, Post Mates, Door Dash, Jimmie John's, etc.) Or any other vendors: Balloons, Flowers, etc.
However, we will never deny a parent access to your child. If you have a lunch delivery for your student, you may check in at the front office with an ID at 12:35pm-12:40pm. We will use the Raptor system to identify you as your student's parent and clear you to hand your student the lunch you provide them. You are welcome to provide lunch for your student, but not their friends.
For the safety and supervision of our students, we ask that you please come into the main office and do not ask your student to meet you at the street or in a parking lot to get the lunch you are bringing them.
