Dear KDM Community,

It was a great, short week at KDM! We are excited to celebrate the Week of Respect from October 7th through October 11th! This is an important time for our community to come together and promote kindness, acceptance, and respect for one another. Each day of the week will feature a different theme to encourage our students to embrace these values. On Monday, we are wearing our favorite sports team clothing!

Please save the dates for Parent/Teacher Conferences at KDM on October 24th through the 29th. A letter explaining how to reserve a meeting time will be released next week. Please note that there will be early dismissals throughout this timeframe, as well. I look forward to this opportunity for families and teachers to connect on a more personal level.

Also, a huge thank you to everyone who participated in our recent PTA Walk-a-thon! It was a fantastic event filled with laughter, exercise, and community spirit. The KDM PTA put together link to a slide show from the day, capturing the joy and energy of our students, staff, and volunteers. We had a blast!

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in making KDM a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow.

• Friday, October 11th - KDM Shows respect! Wear red and white.

• Pumpkin Decorations: Want to help decorate KDM for the Fall?
• Print out this pumpkin (hard copies were also sent home today)
• Decorate your pumpkin and cut it out
• Write your name and homeroom teacher on the back
• Bring it back to school

• Picture Day: Picture Day is October 30th. More information is forthcoming.
  
  
• Lost and Found: The KDM Lost and Found is located in a gray bin in the front lobby. It is labeled "Lost and Found." Our bin is already filled with sweatshirts, water bottles, lunch bags, etc. The Lost and Found bin will be placed outside outside the front door during dismissal this upcoming week. Please stop by to check for any of your missing items. All unclaimed items will be donated after Friday, October 11th.
  
  
• School Nurse Resource: Nurse Kelly is passing along Rockaway Township's newsletter, RockawayConnect.

• Safety Alert: If you are dropping off your child in the morning, please do not drop them off in the parking lot and send them unescorted into the building. Either escort your child all the way to the building or follow the procedures of driving through the parent drop-off lane. Please help us keep your children safe.
  
  
• Late Arrivals to School: If your child is late to school due to a medical appointment, please provide a doctor's note so it will be considered an "excused tardy."
  
  

• Parent Pick-Up Procedures: On the days that parents pick their child up from school, we ask that they email their child's teacher and our attendance secretary, Christina Markowitch (cmarkowitch@rocktwp.net) or Jude Wallin (jwallin@rocktwp.net) by 12pm. This ensures that your child is in the appropriate place for dismissal and eliminates confusion. Please use the visitor's spots in the front lot or the parking lot across the street.
