Mrs. Hambly's class had a “Snow Day” this week for their 12 Days of Christmas. They put shaving cream on tables to be “snow” and wrote spelling words! They had such a blast with this activity and it cleaned the tables really well!

Fourth grade's winter program has been rescheduled to Wednesday, January 4th at 1:30 pm. This will take place in the North Gym and doors will open at 1:00 pm.

High School's Mustang Career and Tech class kicked off their 4th year of doing Santa’s Workshop! They hosted SIX kindergarten classes. High School students prepared for over a month and were really excited to greet their guests! This was such a rewarding, fun, and exhausting project for them. Lots of memories were made and fun was had. Special thanks to the shop students who worked so hard and took such great care to make sure that this was a special experience for Mora Elementary's students. They did a great job!

Congratulations to our students, parents, and staff for earning recognition as an #ESEADistinguishedSchool! Mora Elementary is 1 of only 100 schools to receive this honor.

The Minnesota Department of Education took notice of Mora Elementary School and nominated MES for this award. Each state has the opportunity to nominate two schools to receive the honor of Distinguished School.

Mora Elementary's award category was for excellence in serving special populations of students such as the homeless, migrants, English learners, etc.

To qualify a school must meet the following criteria:

• Poverty rate of over 35%,
• Demonstrated high academic achievement.
• Meet or exceed state standards for adequate yearly progress.

Mora Elementary managed to rebound in its MCA test scores to near pre-pandemic levels in science and reading and actually exceeded our 2019 math results. What is most amazing is that we are the first Minnesota school to actually receive this honor in the past ten years.
