Seedling Mile Update March 23, 2025

March 30, 2025
Upcoming Events:
*April 1 - PTA Meeting, 6pm
The Seedling Mile Website: gips.org/seedling has accurate and up to date information. It also has past newsletters from Mrs. Wemhoff if you need to go back and look at an older one. Don't be afraid to go to our website to seek out information or see what's going on.
State Testing
In the Spring our students take a couple different assessments to showcase their growth over the school year!
*Our 1st graders take the NWEA MAP Math Test
*Our 2nd graders take the NWEA MAP Math Test
*Our 3rd graders take the NSCAS Reading and Math Tests
*Our 4th graders take the NSCAS Reading and Math Tests
*Our 5th graders take the NSCAS Reading, Math, and Science Tests
*All grades will read and answer questions 1 on 1 for the DIBELS reading assessment.
I have included the dates and times our students will be taking these assessments. It is really important that they are in attendance this month to prepare and be ready for these assessments.
We have some school wide goals to help motivate our students to do their best work. We will share those next week so you can help us encourage them to do their best.
It's important that they get good sleep two days prior to the test, eat breakfast, and feel confident!
Run Club
We are excited to have Run Club again this year! Mrs. Billington and Ms. Mankle will be running Rub Club for us this year! It will be after school on Thursdays from 3:05 - 4:15pm.
Please make sure students have proper clothing and shoes on Run Club days!
Please also make sure all students are picked up by 4:15pm.
Thank you!
Preschoolers
Just a reminder that if you have a child who will be four years old by July 31, 2025 they can register for preschool on the Grand Island Public Schools website. We know that students who have had pre-school experience are more ready for the rigors of kindergarten. Families who have questions about pre-school may call 385-5655.
Teacher of the Year Nominations
The GIPS Foundation is starting their campaign drive and requests for teacher of the year nominations. Scan and nominate today. Nominations are due April 29th.
