Opening Message From Dr. Galusi
Dear MPS Families and Caregivers,
As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month this May, I'd like to take a moment to highlight the importance of mental well-being in our schools and throughout our Medford community. Mental health is just as important as physical health, impacting how we learn, grow and interact with our peers. Whether it is our school counselors, teachers, or other building leaders, our staff is full of caring and kind listeners who are always willing to be there for our students.
Ahead of the final few weeks of the school year, I want to reaffirm Medford Public Schools's commitment to fostering a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every member of our school community feels seen, heard and valued.
Sincerely,
Dr. Suzanne B. Galusi
National Honors Society Welcomes Newest Members
This past Tuesday, our MHS community gathered to welcome the latest group of students who were inducted into the National Honors Society!
Forty two students were sworn into the prestigious organization following a ceremony in the Caron Theater. The newest class of NHS members were joined by MHS building leaders, elected officials, club advisor Mrs. Heather McLaughlin, and members of the graduating Class of 2025.
In thinking about the National Honor Society and what it takes to earn an invitation, I’m always drawn to the four pillars of the organization: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, & Character. Many clubs have founding principles, but the ones of NHS stand out in a way that really defines what it means to be a young adult.
To newest members of the NHS: Congratulations on your tremendous achievement, and welcome to the National Honors Society!
Ten Students Earn Medals at Regional Music Festival
Our Band and Orchestra students continued their stellar year with terrific ensemble performances at last weekend's 35th Annual MICCA Festival!
Several of our Orchestra Chamber Music groups earned top honors at the regional festival. Four students earned a gold medal in the High School String Quartet, four students won a silver medal in the Middle School Cello Quartet, and two students won a silver medal in the High School Double Bass & Cello Duo. Additionally, the Medford High School String Quartet was one of three gold medalists to receive an invitation to perform at the MICCA Solo/Ensemble Honors Concert tomorrow at Hopkinton High School.
With both Middle and High School students receiving recognition, it is clear to see how strong our music program is throughout the district. Congratulations to all participating students for their outstanding performances and achievements!
