Falcon's Nest
Alcova Elementary School
January 5, 2024
Dear Alcova Community,
Welcome back to the start of the second semester! I hope this letter finds you and your families rested, rejuvenated, and ready for the exciting challenges and opportunities that the upcoming semester will bring.
As we embark on this new phase of the academic year, I want to express my appreciation for your hard work and dedication during the first semester to support your child’s educational journey. Your contributions are invaluable.
This semester promises a fresh start and an opportunity for growth and achievement. Let's build on the successes of the past and learn from any challenges we encountered. Together, we can create a dynamic and supportive community where each individual can thrive.
During this semester, we will support your student in setting new goals, engaging in active learning, and taking advantage of the resources available to enhance their academic experience. Parents, your involvement and support are crucial components of our shared success.
Kindergarten to fifth-grade students will take the I-Ready Diagnostic Assessment from January 8-12. This diagnostic assessment will provide teachers with a complete picture of each student’s performance relating to their grade level and national norms. The assessment is adaptive and adjusts questions to suit each student's needs. Each item a student sees is individualized based on their answer to the previous question. Please remind your child that they will see easy, just right, and complex questions. We ask them to try their best and use their knowledge to select the best answer for each question.
