Cottage Lake students and families are welcome and encouraged to extend an invite to any Veterans or active military personnel family members, or friends to join us. We would like to have as many guest Veterans as we can get to share this experience with us!
Thank you,
Mrs. Hanning

An update from Nurse Brittney
The weather is turning very wet and cold. We have had lots of kids come to the health room for jackets and new clothing after getting too soaked out at recess. Here are a few reminders as we continue to make our way through the ‘ber months:
- Please send your child to school with a coat and remind them to WEAR it.
- If your child’s coat is missing, check our lost and found. It’s November and there are already more that 20 coats and sweaters that are unclaimed. The lost and found items are hanging outside the cafeteria.
- As it gets colder, kids tend to wear more hats. Children should never share hats as the potential for lice is a year-round issue. Check your child’s hair regularly for the presence of lice or nits. If you have concerns about this, feel free to contact me.
Our school community has been impacted by multiple viral illnesses already this year. Please do not send your child to school if they have a fever, have been vomiting or have diarrhea. They MUST be symptom free for 24 hours, without the use of any medication, in order to return to school. Help us to keep all our kids healthy and in the classroom learning!
Request for Donations
The health room is in need of a few items. Please email me at bschlee@nsd.org if you are able to donate any of the following:
- Boys pants size 5-8
- Boys jackets size 5-8
- Saltine or Ritz crackers
- Fidgets that are easy to clean
Quarter 1 Progress Reports
The end of our first quarter of school was last Friday, November 1.
Teachers are busy preparing your student's fall progress report that each student will receive. The progress reports highlight your student's work in the classroom and help to prepare for Parent-Teacher conferences that begin on November 19. [Please note that progress reports provide a high-level overview, where report cards (distributed in February and June) will provide a greater depth of detail for your student.] This year, progress reports and report cards will be viewed online and not printed. All families should be able to view your student's progress report in ParentVue on Monday, November 12. If your student receives support through Special Education, those progress reports will be emailed to you from your case manager. Lastly, if your student is in Kindergarten, you will be receiving printed copies of the fall WA Kids reports for your student(s) on Friday, November 15.
Please see the note below from the district.
All progress reports and report cards this year will be available to families through the Report Card or Documents tab in ParentVUE. Historically, these reports have been printed and mailed home; however, due to our budget constraints we are changing our process. We recognize that some families may not have the ability to access ParentVue, so if a family needs a printed copy, they should contact the main office. More information about accessing ParentVUE or how to view progress reports is available online.
November Parent-Teacher conferences
If you have questions about conferences please reach out to the front office, your child's teacher, or to me, Ms. Welch. I look forward to attending some conferences and seeing you around school during our conference days.
As a reminder, we will have early release on all the conference days. The conference days are November 19, 21, 22, 25, and 26. Our dismissal on those days is 12:40 PM.
