Last week was an exciting week at Eagle Canyon. Several families joined the PTA on Wednesday night at Skate Express for a Sweetheart Skate event. It was fun to see families skating together. I didn't realize how far roller skates have evolved through the years. Several students had skates with light-up wheels. So fun!

EAGLE CANYON DEBATE TEAM

On Friday night, the Eagle Canyon Debate team competed against approximately ten other elementary schools in a tournament at Chino High School. One of our sixth graders won the first place speaker award, two teams finished fourth and fifth place, and several of our students earned awards for their debate skills. I am so proud of the team's hard work. They represented Eagle Canyon well. 😀

K12 INSIGHT SURVEY

TRIMESTER THREE PERFECT ATTENDANCE

Eagle Canyon will reinstate the Perfect Attendance award beginning in Trimester Three which begins February 20, 2024. The Perfect Attendance award is a requirement to earn the 2023-24 Graduate Award.

• Perfect Attendance: Bell to Bell (Beginning to the End of EACH school day.)
• ALL tardies will count against the award unless accompanied by a Doctor or Dentist note that has been received within five days.
• Early Dismissals only count towards this award when a medical note from a Doctor or Dentist has been received within five business days of the appointment.

SIXTH-GRADE PARENTS

It is time to purchase your yearbook dedication pages. Be sure to get them turned in as soon as possible to guarantee they make it into the yearbook.

Attendance in school leads to better performance for children when they are adults. As such, CVUSD has a new attendance challenge for the 2023-24 school year. They are challenging schools to attain a 96.5% attendance rate. The school with the highest attendance rate in each feeder group will be awarded a huge trophy at the end of the trimester and earn a school-wide pizza party at the end of the year. Let's work together to earn the trophy and pizza!

School starts every day at 7:50 a.m. To ensure our students make it to class on time, we offer breakfast and supervision beginning at 7:20 a.m. Between 7:15 and 7:40, traffic is very light.

Please make illness the only reason for an absence. When your child misses school, they miss out on important instruction, and it takes a while for them to get caught up. Over the last two weeks, we increased our overall attendance rate to 95.3%. We did meet the 96.5% goal three times in the last two weeks. On February 14th, we only had three students absent. 😀 The most recent attendance report was shared. Eagle Canyon is currently in third place in the Ayala Feeder group.

Let's work together to make attendance a priority!

Students will be entered into a drawing for one of five Yogurtland gift certificates each week for the following:

• Attend school every day
• Arrive to their classrooms by 7:50 a.m.
• Stay at school all day
