A Message From the Principals
Dear Barrington Families,
What an amazing week we've had at school! Our classrooms have been buzzing with incredible learning experiences. From exploring the important role of community helpers to watching and learning about bears in Alaska, our students have been on some exciting learning adventures. It's been so much fun seeing their curiosity and enthusiasm grow each day.
We also had the privilege of experiencing our very first "Making Tracks" event, and wow—what an energetic and joy-filled time it was! A huge thank you to our PTO and all of our families for your incredible support in making it such a success. The event truly brought our community together, and the students' excitement was contagious!
We’re looking forward to more wonderful moments ahead. Thank you for being such a vital part of our school community and for everything you do to support your children’s learning journeys.
Wishing you a relaxing weekend,
Nichole Cooper and Heather Markward

Background Check Requirement for Field Trip Volunteers
We are so grateful for the many wonderful parents and guardians who generously volunteer their time to support our students, especially during field trips. Your involvement truly enhances the experiences we’re able to offer!
As a reminder, district policy requires all parent volunteers attending field trips to complete a background check. This helps ensure the safety and well-being of our students. Background checks can be completed at Mincy (1619 Zollinger Road) from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Please note that they are closed for lunch from 12:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
If you plan to volunteer on an upcoming field trip and haven't completed your background check yet, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. Volunteers will not be permitted to attend the field trip without this background check completed. Thank you again for your continued support and involvement in our school community. We truly appreciate you!
Progress Reports
Because the elementary school years are so critical to a student’s academic and personal growth, our teachers will be increasing the amount of communication regarding each student’s achievement this year.
In previous school years, elementary students have received Progress Reports three times a year, at the end of each trimester. There have also been conference opportunities for families in the fall and the spring.
Beginning this school year, teachers will provide Progress Reports in January and June. In the fall and the spring, they will provide Interim Reports for each student. Teachers will share each student’s fall Interim Report with families during conferences on October 8th-9th, 2024. While spring conferences are optional for families, all students will receive another interim report at that time. Interim and Progress Reports will be accessible to families in PowerSchool.
Our goal is to increase meaningful conversations between teachers and families regarding each student’s individual achievement, growth and learning needs. We are excited to launch this expanded reporting system this year and look forward to collaborating with you!
Progress Reports for students with IEPs:
If your student receives services based on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) you can view their first progress report of the year starting on Wednesday, October 8th for elementary students and Wednesday, October 16th for secondary students via PowerSchool. Click on the green box that contains the letters ‘PR’ at the top of the home screen once you are logged in.

Making Tracks for Bobcats
Thank you to everyone who supported our Fall Fundraiser, Making Tracks for Bobcats, this past Friday. It was such a successful day for the students & staff. We hope your child enjoyed getting a Barrington t-shirt, Barrington croc jibbitz, Barrington bookmark and a popcicle. The weather certainly made the day extra special!
We are still collecting contributions, so if you would like to donate please do so here. Remember the classroom that raises the most funds will earn a pizza & ice cream party. We hope to share our final results next week!
Thanks again to the many volunteers, sponsors and donors who made the event so successful. We are grateful for our amazing Barrington community!
Scholastic Book Fair
The Book Fair is still going on and runs until this Wednesday, 10/9. You can shop during parent/teacher conferences. You can also help us run our Book Fair by volunteering here. We have shifts available daily through 10/10.

- Fundraising is NOT valid with DoorDash delivery.

Election Day Bake Sale
Calling all bakers, treat makers, shoppers & generous community members! We are gearing up for Election Day on Tuesday, November 5, 2024! Each year we host a bake sale in the Barrington cafeteria to raise money for the PTO. We are in need of baked goods & snack donations, financial donations (we can shop for you!) and parent/student volunteers to sell the treats. With this being a Presidential election year we need lots of donations! There will be no school that day, so we strongly encourage your elementary students to join the fun and work the table, practicing their math skills and engaging with our community members. Please click the link here to contribute or sign-up for a shift.
Year Book Photos
Please send your photos in for the yearbook. We will collect now through February 2025. Photos of Barrington rock, back-to-school, class parties, field trips, recess, safety patrol, service-learning and more, are all great submissions! Email photos to our Yearbook Chair, Sonja Stanley, at barringtonyearbookphotos@gmail.com.
