The Eagle Eye
Children are the heart of Imlay!
Dear Imlay Families,
From Principal McCalley
Dear Imlay Families,
Wow! May is flying by and we are moving rapidly towards the end of the year! Next week, our hybrid students in 3rd-6th grade will take the SBAC assessment on either Monday, May 24th or Tuesday, May 25th. They will take the SBAC assessment on the day they attend in-person instruction at Imlay. Please reach out to your classroom teacher if you have any questions!
We are excited to be able to return a few Imlay traditions, with COVID safety protocols! First, our 6th grade Nest Council is planning, organizing and running both an in-person and virtual field day for students. This will occur on the last week of the school year...dates and times to be announced! Unfortunately, parents will not be able to participate this year due to RSSL guidance; however, we will take lots of pictures and post them!
Our 6th graders will also be able to participate in their clap out and 6th grade celebration! This is such great news and we are so thankful we can celebrate our students as they transition to middle school. The 6th grade celebration will occur on June 16th, Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The clap out will happen twice, so each set of in-person students will be able to participate! 6th grade students will participate in the clap out either on Tuesday, June 15th or Thursday, June 17th, depending on which is their last in person day.
The last day of school, June 17th, will be a "normal" day of school ending at 1:00 p.m. There will not be afternoon, virtual groups that day.
Please let us know if you have any questions!
Yours in Eagle Pride,
Jen McCalley
MASK CLARIFICATION
On Thursday, May 13, the CDC announced that fully vaccinated people could go maskless indoors and outdoors, except in certain situations. This is great news as it relates to a return to some level of pre-pandemic normalcy, but has caused some confusion as well.
Please note that the guidance for educational institutions in Oregon has not changed. Here is an excerpt from statements made by Governor Kate Brown last Thursday evening:
“Today the CDC issued new guidance for lifting mask and social distancing requirements for fully-vaccinated individuals...Starting today, Oregon will be following this guidance, which only applies to fully-vaccinated individuals...Nothing is changing for schools this school year, and I expect education staff and students to continue to wear masks and physically distance, as outlined in our Ready Schools, Safe Learners guidance…”
We greatly appreciate everyone’s continued adherence to this guidance through the end of the 2020-21 school year.

Security Updates To Imlay Elementary
The door system will allow visitors to be buzzed in through the front door. When you approach the front door of Imlay, please push the button on the metal box on the right hand side. Once the button is pushed, a chime goes off in the main office and we can see who is at the door and talk to you!
Once visitors are allowed in our buildings again, we will be able to remotely unlock the door to allow guests to enter and proceed to the office to sign in!
More information will be coming next fall on all of our security upgrades!
