Mrs. Rodney Davis-Gilbert comes to Prestonwood Montessori at E.D. Walker as a Master Educator with a specialization in the Montessori Method. She has served in Dallas ISD for 15 years as a SPED Coordinator, ESL Advocate, Model United Nations Liaison, and Upper Elementary Montessori Teacher. Her two decades of servant-leadership at George B. Dealey Montessori and International Academy have established her as an award-winning educator who is passionate about developing the “whole child”.

Mrs. Gilbert feels it is an honor to be a founding member of this innovative DISD Dual Language Montessori Choice initiative. She looks forward to creatively train, challenge, and inspire ALL educators to improve the work they do for students, their families, and the community. She will work to equip and enable teachers to improve their actions and methods; whether it’s instruction, school climate, leadership, family engagement, or any of the other issues a school faces on a daily basis. She believes a whole child approach, will set the standard for comprehensive, sustainable school improvement and provide for long-term student success for ALL children.

Dr. Johnny Boucher is in love with public Montessori schools. He is “absolutely thrilled to serve as a teacher leader and mentor on the ground” with the founding team at Prestonwood Montessori. Johnny is a former district-level Montessori Specialist, education consultant, teacher trainer, and curriculum writer, as well as learning scientist in his ninth year in the Dallas ISD.

Johnny has been awarded Greater East Dallas Teacher of the Year, Distinguished Teaching Ambassador for Transformation Schools, and is the three-time winner of a Grant for Innovative Teaching. Boucher served as 2020-2021 course instructor and cohort leader for 50 Dallas ISD Montessori teachers in the state’s Reading Academies Course, The Science of Teaching Reading. Boucher is credentialed in Montessori via the Association Montessori International (Age 3-6) and (Age 6-12, ant.); holds a Bachelors of Science in Education, Masters of Education in Montessori and in Early Literacy, Doctorate in Education, and is completing a third M.Ed through the Dallas ISD Future Leaders Academy with UNT Dallas.

Boucher has been featured in The Male Montessorian of London and UK Ed magazine, Montessori Life - The American Montessori Society magazine, and as the 2018 national keynote speaker for the University Council for Education Administration. Johnny is a proud graduate of Dallas ISD and former Dallas ISD Montessori child. He has two children who have grown up in the Dallas ISD Montessori program.

The Dual Language program gives your child an opportunity to learn how to speak, write, read, listen, and think in both Spanish and English. Gaining this skill set prepares students for greater career and professional options, as well as providing them with a competitive edge in the global marketplace.

In the Dual Language classroom, instruction is provided in Spanish and English. Students also learn and grow by interacting with their peers whose first language is Spanish and/or English.

This is not automatic entry into the Dual Language program. Official commitment and acceptance will come once all seats are filled.

Remember ALL Pre-K students need to also register for DISD Pre-K at www.dallasisd.org/prek in addition to receiving an offer for a seat at Prestonwood Montessori at ED Walker.

Prestonwood Montessori will offer before and after-school care to our families. Champions will provide our on-site aftercare for Pk3-2nd grade students. Please contact Teresa Trawick, our Champions liaison, for more information about the program and how to apply for a weekly discounted rate.
