Week of March 24th

Principal Welcome!
EVOLV Metal Detectors at GIA Next Week!
Dear Global Impact Academy Families,
I hope this letter finds you well. At FCS, the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors remain our top priority. As part of our ongoing commitment to creating a secure learning environment, we continuously evaluate and enhance our safety measures to ensure the highest standards of protection for our school community.
Over the years, we have implemented a variety of safety protocols and systems, including:
• Comprehensive Emergency Plans: Regularly updated and practiced emergency response procedures for various scenarios, including fire drills, lockdown drills, and evacuation plans.
• Access Control Systems: Secure entry points with monitored access to prevent unauthorized entry. • Surveillance Cameras: Strategically placed cameras throughout school premises to monitor activity and deter potential threats.
• School Resource Officers: Collaboration with local law enforcement to have dedicated officers on-site for immediate response and support.
• Staff Training: Ongoing training for staff on safety protocols, emergency response, and recognizing potential threats.
To further enhance our security measures, we are pleased to announce the implementation of the EVOLV system. This state-of-the-art technology will be deployed at random intervals, rotating among our schools for periods ranging from one to two weeks. The EVOLV system utilizes advanced screening technology to detect potential threats, adding an extra layer of security and peace of mind for our community.
Key features of the EVOLV system include:
• Advanced Threat Detection: Utilizes sophisticated sensors and artificial intelligence to identify weapons and other prohibited items without causing delays or disruptions.
• Randomized Deployment: The system will rotate among schools at random intervals to maintain an element of unpredictability and ensure comprehensive coverage.
• Seamless Integration: Designed to integrate smoothly with our existing security measures, minimizing disruption while enhancing overall safety.
We believe that the introduction of the EVOLV system, alongside our established protocols, will significantly strengthen our ability to protect our students and staff. The safety of our school community is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate the continued support and cooperation of our staff, parents, and stakeholders in maintaining a secure environment. Together, we can ensure that all FCS remain a safe and welcoming place for all.
This is a standard procedure for all Fulton County High Schools and will be located at our side door entrance and the bus loop entrance as well. Please reach out should you have any questions.
With gratitude,
Johnathan Hall

Farewell Officer Moody and Welcome to Officer Goree
Congratulations to Officer Moody who will be transitioning to a new role in Fulton County Schools. Officer Moody will now be the GREAT/DARE Program Facilitator for all of Fulton County Schools! We will miss her on campus here at GIA, however she will be around for a few more weeks before fully transitioning into the role.
We would like to welcome Officer Goree to RoBee Land! Please see below for a quick blurb to learn more about Officer Goree!
My name is Kenneth Goree, originally from Huntsville, Alabama. I’ve spent the last 13 years in Atlanta, Georgia, and for the past nine years, I've proudly served as a police officer. I am a college graduate from Athens State University, where I earned my degree in Criminal Justice, and I’m currently pursuing another degree in Information Technology. I'm also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about being a positive pillar in the community, working hard to foster trust and safety. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is engaging with the youth, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to help them build brighter futures. I truly believe in making a lasting, positive impact on the community I serve.

Yearbook Sales
Students and Families,
This is just a reminder that if you wish to purchase the GONNA-BE-AMAZING 2024-2025 Yearbook, you will need to purchase it on the TREERING website. It is NOT in OSP (Online School Payments).
Additionally, you have the opportunity to personalize TWO FREE PAGES in your own book as long as you purchase and personalize by MARCH 25!! Personalizing might take you a few days, so plan to purchase soon so you have time to do a great personalization for your yearbook!
Here are some articles and videos on how to design your custom pages using TreeRing's Page Builder.
https://help.treering.com/s/topic/0TOQg0000000ewjOAA/creating-custom-pages?tabset-a06da=2
However, you can easily use CANVA (on your school computer) to design and complete your two pages by setting these dimensions:
One single page at a time
7.91 inches wide x 10.41 inches high
You can place your two created images directly into TreeRing once you create it, download it from Canva, and upload the completed image into TreeRing
One double-page large image
16.42 inches wide x 10.41 inches high
You can place your single large image directly into TreeRing once you create it, download it from Canva, and upload it to the TreeRing program.
Please be careful about putting images in the center of your large image, because the binding of the book will cause the center inch to possibly be lost from view.
Happy DESIGNING!
