BALLET FOLKLORICO SHOWCASE, 2024 ๐
DISNEY CHOIR TRIP
On Thursday 5/30/2024, members of the Wildcat Chorus, Golden Chorus, and Cantate Chorus took part in a Singing Workshop at Disneyland. Our students learned portions of two Disney songs, recorded them, and then Disney synced our recorded audio with the actual Disney animation! Afterwards, students then had fun in Disney California Adventure park.
CHOIR SPRING POPS CONCERT
On the evening of Wednesday May 22nd Cantate, Wildcat Chorus, and the Golden Chorus presented their Spring Pops Concert. The Star Spangled Banner began the evening, followed by Cantate Choir's performance. They sang "Almost There" from the movie The Princess and the Frog, "Un Poco Loco" from the movie Coco, and "Dance the Night" from the Barbie movie. Next, a small group of students from Wildcat Chorus performed "When I'm Gone" (cup song) . Wildcat Chorus performed "What Was I Made For?" from Barbie and "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield. Chamber Singers performed "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Golden Chorus sang "Arabian Nights" from Aladdin and "I'm Just Ken" from Barbie. Golden Chorus and Wildcat Chorus joined together to perform "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman. They also performed "One Love" and encouraged the audience to sing with them (by holding up signs with the song lyrics)! To end the concert, all three choirs along with several RMS Alumni, performed the song "Sing with Jubilation." Many of our choir students performed solos and the concert was well received by all!
BAND CONCERT
On the evening of Thursday, May 23rd, Jazz Band, Wildcat Band, and Concert Band performed their Summer Band concert. Our Jazz Band, called the Jazz Cats, performed: "A Minor Case of the Blues," "Anyway You Want It," "Blues at the Gate," and "Birdland." Two of our teachers, Mr. Guerzon and Mr. Parrott, performed with the Jazz Band. Many of our students also performed improvised solos. An improvised solo is when a musician makes up music on the spot in the middle of a song. The soloist bases their improvised solo on the melody and chords of the song. Next, the Concert Band performed "Ten Masters in Two Minutes," "Fires of Mazama," and "Crazy for Cartoons." Wildcat Band played "Flash in the Pan!" and "Dragonstone," music from The Incredibles movie, as well as music from Pirates of the Caribbean (The Curse of the Black Pearl. The two bands joined together to finish the evening with "Superheroes R Us," "Never Gonna Take On the Office," and "John Williams: Movie Adventures."
LAST WEEK'S ASSEMBLIES
On Friday, May 24th, Jazz Band, Wildcat Chorus, Golden Chorus, and Wildcat Band held Assemblies for each grade level in the MPR. Select songs from the previous two evening performances were used for these assemblies, and a variety of music was performed.
8th GRADE YEAR BOOK
Receiving the RMS yearbook is a significant and memorable event for 8th graders. It marks the culmination of their middle school experience and provides a keepsake filled with memories, photos, and signatures from classmates and teachers. The RMS yearbook is more than just a book; it's a treasure trove of memories and a testament to the journey of the 8th-grade class. It serves as a reminder of the growth, friendships, and experiences shared during middle school, making it a cherished keepsake for years to come. Thanks again to teacher Daniel Guerzon,
Explore/Yearbook/Video Productions, and the students in the yearbook class who worked hard to once again make this a successful and valuable yearbook for our 8th graders.

๐ Tentative School Transportation 2024-2025 ๐
Vista Unified School District is committed to equity and access in education. Our Districtโs long-standing tradition of providing general education transportation to qualifying schools is part of this commitment. A historic shortage of school bus drivers at the local, regional, state, and national levels created a staffing shortfall, requiring us to pause several general education routes. The Transportation Department is projecting that we can reinstate some paused
school bus routes in the 2024/2025 school year.
