Zebra Family Update!
April 2022
Happy Spring & Looking to the Future!
It's a beautiful time of year on the LHS Campus. Students have been enjoying the lovely weather during breaks and at lunch, there is a lot happening every day after school between athletics and activities, and we are gearing up to finish strong and celebrate our Class of 2022 with their Graduation Ceremony on the evening of 6/10!
One of our top priorities at LHS is to help all students graduate college and career ready! This past week, we hosted an incredible career exploration fair with over 50 local businesses who want to hire LHS graduates! Later this spring, be watching for a summer job and volunteer fair. If your student is between 15-18, we can set them up with a work permit - they just need to stop into the office to see Mrs. Pineschi or Mrs. Emerson for the paperwork!
One amazing tool we've recently launched at LHS is called the "Virtual Job Shadow" and it's a great opportunity for students to research job opportunities, learn about job qualifications, take interest surveys, and watch videos about career options from folks in the field! Students can also track information that they can use to build a resume here too! To access this tool, visit https://www.virtualjobshadow.com/login/DA7DA9/users/? Students will use their WPUSD login credentials (like what they use to login to their chromebook) to get access.
If your student is college bound, we are hosting another college visit on 5/24 - Mrs. Edwards will be taking a bus of students to visit Stanford, San Jose State and Santa Clara University - the cost is $20 and students can see Mrs. Edwards in room 11 for permission slips and can pay the fee in our student store at lhs.wpusd.org.
If you or your student have any questions about College and Career readiness, we encourage you to reach out to your student's counselor and/or our LHS College and Career Technician. If you believe your student could benefit from additional support to help them become college and career ready, then we have an amazing elective for them - AVID is available for students in grades 9-12, and your student can check in with their counselor for more information!

Vandalism at LHS
In the restrooms, vandalism is an issue, but sometimes so is illegal substance use and fighting. We take all of these situations seriously. We encourage you to talk to your students about how to exit situations that they know aren't appropriate, and to let our staff know so we can address it quickly. We ALWAYS work to keep information from students/families confidential, and students can share information with us privately through Schoology or email or by sending and anonymous note to the admin team.
