Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
At least we got to see a little sunshine this week, and our BHS spring athletes were outside taking advantage of the beautiful weather! It is always a nice hint of spring when our students are busy outside of the building at the end of a school day!
Next week is the last week of the third quarter. This means that students need to make sure all work is completed by Friday, March 7, 2025. This is also a reminder that the fourth quarter ineligibility list will be created based upon the third quarter grades, so students must be passing their classes. Students who are on the ineligibility list ARE NOT permitted to attend prom or participate in any other extracurricular activities during the fourth quarter.
You will also notice that the flyer for prom is included in this newsletter. Prom is for BHS students in the 11th and 12th grades who are both eligible and have paid all of their school fees. These 11th and 12th grade students are permitted one guest who must arrive and leave with them. We will be monitoring the guest requests closely, so please make sure your 11th and 12th grade students are aware of this and that they know that if they bring a guest, they are responsible for the guest’s behavior. We truly want this to be a special evening for our 11th and 12th grade students.
Our spring musical kicks off next week, so be sure to reserve your ticket via the information below. Our students have been spending A LOT of time rehearsing for this, so I can’t wait to see the finished production.
I hope you enjoy your weekend, and we can’t wait to see everyone back on Monday to finish the last week of the third quarter in a positive way!
In service to our Bulldogs.

Please Take Note of the Following:
- Click Here to Order a Copy of the 2024-2025 Yearbook
- Students must ride the high school bus into BHS in the morning. We have too many students who are not catching the high school/middle school bus at the appropriate time and are jumping on the bus with elementary students. This is not permitted. Beginning on March 11th, the first day of the fourth quarter, students will not be permitted to board an elementary bus to ask the driver to drop you off at BHS. If students miss the high school bus, they must secure their own ride to school. Please help your high school student get up in time and catch the bus at the appropriate high school time.
- Attention sophomore parents: Your sophomore student will be taking the LEAP ACT Diagnostic test on March 18th. Make sure you join the LEAP Masterclass on March 31st. This online class will help you understand your child’s results and help you make an informed, individualized plan for your student. Any student who was not able to attend the meeting on February 13th, but wishes to pursue the option to take a CCP course in the 25-26 school year must contact Mrs. Grooms or Mrs. Poling to get the necessary information and follow the appropriate steps. Even if you were a CCP student in this current school year, you must still attend a virtual or face to face meeting and complete an intent form to continue with CCP for the 25-26 school year.
The FAFSA is available now!!!!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2025-26 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are at least eligible for student loans! Families who want to start filling out the FAFSA now can start the process at studentaid.gov. If you need assistance, visit itsforyou.org and scroll to the “Looking for FAFSA help?” section for details. Let’s ensure no money is left on the table!
Updated Scholarship List:
Another option to look at opportunities for additional funding for college is by applying for scholarships. BHS Guidance updates this list regularly as new scholarships are shared with us. Here is a link to the most recent list that is shared with all seniors. There are A LOT of new scholarships that have been added!

Grant Career Center Application:
Grant Career Center has many program options for juniors and seniors and some senior only options for students that decide later in high school that career tech is the avenue they would like to pursue. Seniors can also apply for two year programs and will be considered if there is room. It is important to remember that students who attend Grant must provide their own transportation. Here is the link for the information about all of their program options and the application: Grant Career Center
