A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Community
We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of generosity from our BJF school community. Your donations made it possible for 20 families to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal this year. Your kindness and support embody the spirit of giving and remind us of the power of community.
Thank you for making a meaningful difference and bringing joy to so many. We are proud to be part of such a caring and compassionate school family.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with warmth and gratitude!
Show Your Gratitude to Our Amazing Staff
This month, we’re focusing on gratitude, and there’s no better way to demonstrate this than by sharing heartfelt thanks with those who make a difference every day. I encourage you to take a moment, perhaps with your child, to write a thoughtful thank-you email to their teacher. This simple act is a wonderful way to model gratitude and appreciation for your child.
As the principal of Bluejacket-Flint, I see firsthand the dedication, hard work, and care that our teachers, support staff, paras, custodians, office staff, and school nurse bring to our school each day. Let’s show them how much we care by expressing our thanks.
If you need a specific staff member’s email, please don't hesitate to reach out to me, and I will be happy to provide it.
With sincerest thanks,
Katy

A Sneaky Spirit Week Surprise!
If you didn't know, our teachers recently pulled off an "underground spirit week," leaving students puzzled and entertained! With silly outfits, drinking from anything but a cup, and donning their favorite holiday attire, the students were left wondering if their teachers had lost their marbles.
The joy, laughter, and unexpected fun brought an extra layer of excitement to our school. It was a wonderful reminder that school spirit and surprises can spark smiles and strengthen our community!

ATTENDANCE
66 of our BJF students are chronically absent.
How can you help decrease our building average?
Reminders for Parents to Help Improve Student Attendance
Every Day Counts: Missing even a few days can affect your child’s learning and routine.
Set a Routine: Help your child develop good habits by setting a consistent bedtime and morning schedule.
Communicate with the School: If your child will be absent, notify the office and share the reason. We are here to support you!
Schedule Wisely: Try to schedule vacations and appointments outside of school hours whenever possible.
Monitor Health: While we understand children get sick, please send them to school if they are feeling well enough to attend.
Transportation Help: If transportation is an issue, reach out – we may be able to assist with solutions.
Stay Engaged: Ask your child about their day and encourage excitement about learning to make school a positive experience.
Your involvement makes a difference! Let’s work together to improve attendance and set students up for success.

BREAKFAST
Breakfast begins at 7:50 a.m. Students that eat breakfast, may enter the building at 7:50a.m. They can enter through the front door or the walker door.
DISMISSAL
Please be patient with our staff and with each other as we begin a new school year. It takes about 1-2 weeks for dismissal to begin running smoothly.
- Walkers - Students who are walking will be dismissed through the East facing door #15. Parents may wait on the east side of the building in the grass area. For the safety of our students please do not cross the crosswalk and block the exit. You will pick up your walker from SPOT 1, SPOT 2 or SPOT 3. (see image below)
- Car Riders - All students/families will be given a car tag with a number. Please hang this tag on your review mirror during dismissal. Our staff will need to see this number in order to call your student(s) to the front for dismissal. NO parents should park in the parking lot if your student is a car rider. Remain in your vehicle at all times.
HAVING LUNCH WITH YOUR STUDENT?
We value the time our parents spend visiting and sharing lunch with their children. To ensure the lunch experience remains special and focused on you and your student, please note that, moving forward, parents will only be able to have lunch with their own child. Inviting friends to join during these lunch visits will no longer be allowed.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we maintain a comfortable and focused environment for all students. Thank you for your cooperation!
