Mid-November 2024 - Vol. 6 Issue 7
Dollenger says....
Greetings,
Here at North East, we have jumped into fall with the start of the second marking period and winter sports, with Thanksgiving Break just around the corner.
BIG WINS continue as Fall Sports have wrapped up their season. Congratulations to Leanna Rogers for placing 6th at the State Cross Country Meet. We are extremely proud of her accomplishment!
All students in all classes that receive a report card grade between "50.0%" and "59.9%" qualify for Grade Recoup. Students in grade recoup range on November 18th & November 19th will be called to the media center to work on assignments that the teacher of record has for them to complete. If it is completed between the 18th & 19th, a grade change form will be submitted to guidance and we will work to change that grade for MP 1. Students have until December 6th to redo assignments to get a grade of 60% or better.
Also, athletic appeals for eligibility must be to the Principal in writing by 2:30 Wednesday, November 20.
We hope everyone has a healthy and safe Thanksgiving Break (November 27 through 29)!
~Mr. Dollenger

General Athletic Information
If you are planning on coming to support our student athletes please know that all events in the gymnasium will be charged admission.
NEHS has experienced problems with the implementation of credit and debit cards electronically at sporting events for admission. The poor cell service has made consistent and efficient use problematic. Please continue to be prepared to pay cash just in case this service is not working on any particular game day.
We do not allow backpacks, pets, or outside food (when we offer concessions). Any student under high school age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is no smoking or vaping anywhere on school property regardless of age.
Do you need the paperwork for winter sports participation? Click the link below, or it is also available to pick up in the main office at NEHS.

Hello North East Families!
We are the Action Club, an organization very similar to the PTA/PTO from the elementary and middle schools. Anyone may join our club (free of charge), but we are primarily a group of parents who work together to do all that we can to support and enhance the experiences for the students, staff, and local community of North East High School (NEHS). We are here to promote NEHS’s curricular and extra-curricular support for school-wide activities in an effort to improve school spirit, provide enrichment, and develop positive student, teacher, parent, administrative, and community relationships.

Safe Schools Maryland
Welcome to Safe Schools Maryland - an ANONYMOUS and FREE reporting system available to students, teachers, school staff members, parents, and the general public to report any school or student safety concerns, including mental health concerns. Safe Schools Maryland is Maryland’s only official anonymous reporting system. Safe Schools Maryland operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. Your anonymous report can be submitted by calling the tip line (1-833-MD-B-SAFE / 1-833-632-7233), completing an online form (below), or downloading the free Safe Schools Maryland app from the App Store or Google Play. https://schoolsafety.maryland.gov/Pages/Tipline.aspx
No Outside Food Deliveries During the School Day
Please refrain from having food/beverages delivered or dropped off to students during the school day. Deliveries will be turned away. We thank you in advance for your assistance in reducing the amount of disruptions to school operations.
Let’s work together to eliminate unnecessary and unlawful absences!
Frequent absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with a bully or facing some other difficulty.
By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school.
By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student’s academic success.
Bus Notes
As a reminder, a request to ride a different bus home or to school is reserved for emergencies and will need approval of administration. If you are requesting permission for your child to ride another bus, please follow the steps below:
· A written note from both parents indicating the reason for the request
· Please include your phone number on the note
· Notes must be received by noon on the day of the request
· Phone calls cannot be accepted
