ATTENDANCE TIPS
Sleep = Success! 📚✨
Did you know that getting enough sleep can actually help you show up and glow up in school?
Middle schoolers who catch 8–10 hours of sleep each night are more likely to:
✔️ Wake up on time
✔️ Feel energized for the day
✔️ Stay focused in class
✔️ Have better attendance!
Lack of sleep = groggy mornings, missed buses, and more sick days 😵💫🛌
But good sleep = bright minds and consistent attendance! 🌟💪
So set that bedtime and power down those screens—your future self will thank you! 💡🛏️📵

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR JUNIOR BOARD MEMBERS!
Junior Board introduces students to the business of philanthropy and nonprofit organizations through hands-on experiences and opportunities to meet the people committing their lives for the betterment of our community.
Student groups identified one nonprofit agency to research, worked with group members to prepare a slide presentation, and presented to a group of judges. Presentations were held this week. Judges rated and ranked the groups. Each group receives a monetary award which they will present to their selected agencies.

INSTRUCTIONAL SPOTLIGHT - SLPL
Student-Led Professional Learning (SLPL) is a student, teacher, and admin team that will collaborate to enhance the instructional practice of educators at IHMS.
The SLPL team presented to staff Monday about different strategies that support instructional literacy and student achievement.
Mrs. Heaton’s Art 2D students took their creativity outside and painted with bamboo stalks.
KNIGHTS OF EXCELLENCE
Knights of Excellence is a special awards night honoring our 8th grade students. Every 8th grader will receive an award for scholarship and will walk across the stage at SME.
In addition, some students will be presented with special awards for their exceptional contributions in areas such as school involvement, citizenship and service, academic excellence and growth, and upholding our school values.
We encourage all 8th graders—and their families—to attend and celebrate these meaningful accomplishments together.

STUDENT PROJECT: WISHING WELL DONATIONS
We’re two middle schoolers from Indian Hills who, during a class project, learned about the trapped water theory—how clean water is underground but out of reach for many communities without the tools to dig wells. We were shocked to learn that over 700 million people still lack access to safe water, forcing many to walk miles for dirty water, which harms health and education.
So, we decided to turn our project into real action. Our goal is to raise $8,000 to fund a clean water well in a water-scarce African community, partnering with a trusted nonprofit to make sure every dollar makes a direct impact.
Please go to this website to donate towards helping others have clean water.
