Hello, Jaguar Family!

To check your child's progress, please log into HAC to see your child's most recent Interim Progress Report (IPR). If you have questions about your child's progress, please reach out directly to the teacher after talking it over with you child.

Jaguar Football Update
Jaguar Football Results VS Hopewell
7th Grade B Team Football had a dominating performance this week vs Hopewell MS with a score of 46 to 0.
Players of the game were E. Ore, W. Garbade, and L. Nicholson. Cedar Valley's defense played a perfect game not allowing a Hopewell score and our entire offense executed the plays to perfection.
7th grade A team had a tough loss with the game ending in a lightning delay with the score at 24 to 8. The Cedar Valley 7th grade team fought hard and played well, and will look to improve this next week against Walsh.
8th Grade B Team had a stellar performance as well winning their game 36 to 0 vs Hopewell. Players of the game were B. Wilson, O. Richardson, W. Miller, C. Daye, T. Alagappan, and E. Rivas. The offense played lights out, and the defense fought hard for the shutout win. A. Pugilese had a game-ending interception to seal the win.
8th Grad A Team had a hard fought, close loss with the game being tied at 0 to 0 well into the third quarter. The 8th Grade A Team offense was gaining ground late in the 4th quarter but ran short on time with the game ending in a loss of 10 to 0. The Jaguar defense played hard holding the Hopewell offense to only 10 points, and the team as a whole looks to improve this week against Walsh.

The Lady Jags took on the Walsh Wildcats in volleyball on Thursday night. Congrats to the 8th Grade B Team for securing the win against the Wildcats in 2 sets! We’re very proud of all teams last night as they played with much heart and determination.

Non-School-Sponsored Travel
Round Rock ISD defines non-school-sponsored travel experiences as "Travel experiences that involve the use of a for-profit travel company or travel agency that is not an RRISD entity and that provides complementary travel, stipends, or incentives to RRISD staff members."
From time to time, we have teachers who plan trips, using third party companies, related to their content area. It is important to note that The Round Rock Independent School District recognizes that it does not regulate, nor assume responsibility for non-school-sponsored trips/tours on weekends, during school and non-school days, holidays, or during summer vacation, unless it is an approved school-sponsored activity. Because of the potential for a conflict between the interests of the District, the teacher(s), and the student(s), it is necessary and appropriate to establish guidelines for school employees who wish to facilitate, sponsor, chaperone, or take part in a non-school-sponsored trip/tour. These guidelines include information regarding whether if communication using work email addresses is permitted, distribution of promotional materials for trips, responsibility and liability, chaperones, and expense reimbursement.
Please note that all non-school-sponsored trips planned by Cedar Valley staff are separate from Cedar Valley Middle School and Round Rock ISD. The principal reserves the right to limit communication and promotional materials on campus on a case-by-case basis.
If a parent has questions about a trip itself, please contact the organizer. If a parent has questions about the guidelines, please contact the campus principal.
A Note From the Nurse Regarding Medication
This is a friendly reminder about medication drop-off times. Please make an appointment before coming to drop off your child's medication(s). The medical forms are available on my Cedar Valley Nurse's Office website. Please read the medication procedure, fill out the form entirely and bring it with the medication(s). Thank you for being understanding.

TAGT Parent Webinar sponsored by RRISD TAGPAC
Advanced learners may be more cognitively developed, but often have challenges with things like organization, goal setting, and underachievement. To assist parents in supporting students with these challenges, TAGT is providing a free parent webinar on executive function and mental health in gifted kids on September 10 at 6:30 pm. Advanced Academics and TAGPAC are partnering to host a viewing event in the Cedar Ridge HS auditorium with a roundtable discussion opportunity to follow. Please join us as we partner to support our gifted students.
RRISD TAG Parent Night
Round Rock ISD offers a wide array of services for advanced learners. To equip parents with information relative to department programming and opportunities, the Department of Gifted and Advanced Academics is hosting a state of the district event. During the event, staff will provide an overview of district gifted services and secondary advanced academic options and programming for students. Information about the TAGPAC and other parent engagement opportunities will also be highlighted. Please join us as we partner to support our advanced learners.
Come cheer on the Jags!
We look forward to having a crowd to cheer on our sports teams this year!
Expectations for Students at RRISD Events
It's an exciting time to be able to attend extracurricular events in RRISD. We all love it when a crowd shows up to cheer on our teams. Please keep in mind that attending such events comes with expectations. We ask that parents review these expectations with their students before each event.
Be Safe:
Stay SEATED in the bleachers unless going to the restroom or concession stand.
Items prohibited on campus are prohibited at games.
Unsafe behavior such as horseplay, fighting, and running could result in being removed from the event.
Be Respectful:
- Use a voice level and appropriate language. Do not play music from your phone or portable speaker.
- Show school spirit with cheers or applause. Cheer for CeVMS not AGAINST the other team.
- Listen and respond quickly to instructions from adults.
Be Responsible:
Follow guidelines for food & drinks.
Throw away all trash before leaving the stands/gym.
Call for a ride at the end of halftime. If a student is picked up after 15 minutes of the game ending, it may result in loss of privilege to attend the next game/ event.
These expectations apply to all RRISD extracurricular events. We hold high expectations for students as a spectator at Cedar Valley, but even higher ones when you are visiting another gym or stadium in Round Rock ISD.
Please be aware that students may be asked to leave the event if these expectations are not met. This will also result in losing privileges to attend other events for the school year.
