Dr. Sherp's Update
Dear Folx Families,
As we approach the final two weeks before spring break, we want to take a second to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our students. With just a short time left in the third quarter two weeks to be exact, this is an important time to stay focused, complete assignments, and finish strong. We encourage students to take advantage of available resources, utilize their ac lab time appropriately, communicate with their teachers, and stay after for tutoring if need be. Parents, your continued support at home makes a tremendous difference in their academic success. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. Let's finish 3rd quarter strong and then all enjoy a well-deserved break!
Here is what has been happening at Fox High the past two weeks:
Poms Three Peat-Our dance program at Fox High is incredible. These ladies went to Nationals and took home the hardware for an unprecedented third year in a row. The work and commitment that these young Warriors dedicate to success is undeniable. Congratulations....simply outstanding.
Athletic-Academic Achievement Awards-I am so proud of this one....20 out of 23 of our Fall Sport Teams/Activities received Athletic-Academic Achievement Awards from Missouri State High School Athletic Association (MSHSAA). These groups all averaged a combined grade point average of 3.0 or better. That is truly superb.
Presidential Scholarship-The US Presidential Scholars Program is one of the most distinguished academic awards a US high school senior can achieve. The program recognizes students with varied exceptional academic or creative arts abilities. Each year the Department of Education names up to 161 students to receive the award. Making it through the nomination process is extreme. This year, our senior Lois Pippin will be competing to be named a Presidential Scholar. She is an amazingly talented young lady in so many ways. Lois will be attending the United States Military Academy at West Point for college next school year. Congrats, Lois. We are all so very proud of you and are rooting you on!
Yearbook Award-Our yearbook students just received the Gallery of Excellence Award from Walsworth, our yearbook company for producing one of the top yearbooks their company publishes throughout the state. Our yearbook will be used as an exemplary model to display to current and prospective schools. Our book was selected based on its quality of design, journalism, and overall coverage. Hats off to our yearbook team!! Way to represent!!
Warrior Idol-Last night was our 21st Warrior Idol. I have seen the past 10 and they have ALL been great. Once again, the singing competition was fierce with some really great performances. Congratulations goes out to this year's guitar-playing and singing winner, senior Maggie McAllister. We might see Maggie on stage some day as she will attending Belmont University in Nashville which is widely considered to be one of the best music schools in the country. Congrats to all that sing...it was highly enjoyable.
Winter Assembly-Mr. Fox-Our winter assembly was a blast this year. We incorporated a new component to the assembly that was a celebrity contest of sorts, which at the conclusion, named one of our fine young men as "Mr. Fox." The kids all had a lot of laughs as the contestants worked through a series of activities and a question and answer session to take home the title, Mr. Fox. Congratulations to this year's winner, Mr. Maxloick aka Jordan Fassinou. That young man is savvy to say the least. Well done to all that participated.
