MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
CHS Families and STUDENTS,
I wanted to share some positive news as we wrap up our first five-day week with block scheduling—it was a success! I'm both pleased and impressed with how our students have adapted to the new procedures and schedules. I've had some mature and insightful conversations with a few students who shared their concerns, which I greatly appreciate. I want to commend our entire student body for their outstanding engagement and behavior during our first schoolwide assembly. Your respect, enthusiasm, and attention truly embody what it means to be a Hilltopper.
A special note for our seniors: If you don't currently qualify for late start or early dismissal, you can earn eligibility for the 2nd quarter by achieving a 3.0 GPA during the 1st quarter. Keep up the great work!
Our drop-off process has improved, though there's always room for more refinement. Mr. Yeomans has done an excellent job directing traffic, but ideally, we'd like the drop-off line to run smoothly without needing staff direction.
A few reminders:
- Please close the gaps between cars when dropping off, and students should exit the vehicle immediately when it stops at any point along the sidewalk.
- Parents should NOT drop students off on Maple Ave.
Looking ahead, we have a four-day week next week,
Monday and Tuesday: White Day
Wednesday: Red Day
Thursday: Black Day
Enjoy your weekend, Mr. Tomco.
CLSD PARENT STUDENT HANDBOOK
Please click the banner below to review the updated and recently Board of Education-approved CLSD Parent-Student Handbook. This handbook is published annually to help ensure a safe and productive learning environment for students, staff, parents, and visitors. It outlines students' rights, responsibilities, and the consequences for misbehavior. Included in the district handbook is an addendum specific to Chardon High School. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the school administration.
CHS OPEN HOUSE
During the Open House, you'll be able to walk your student's schedule and attend a brief "class" with each of their teachers. This is a great chance to meet the teachers, learn about the curriculum, and understand the expectations for the school year.

FIRST EVER WATCH PARTY
The "Watch Party" was a fantastic event, with great participation from the Chardon boys soccer team, 3-0 win over Geneva, Mrs. Lichtler and the band, GREAT haltime/pregame performance, and the excellent commentary from Mr. Tim Armelli. A big shout-out to Mr. Dave Jevnikar for ensuring the stream ran smoothly! This event captures the energy and community spirit that makes Chardon High School so special.
Student Council was able to collect 10 bins of food to donate to a local food bank.
MRS. KOLCUM'S CLASS
In an effort to introduce American writers for their ELA class, Mrs. Kolcum's students took advantage of both their creativity and warm weather and used some old-fashioned sidewalk chalk. They were asked to pick an American author from a list, choose a quote from that author, and illustrate the quote with sidewalk chalk. They then went through and explained their illustrations. It was great to see their work, as well as feel the Ohio sunshine!
