Cesar Chavez Day: March 31st
Cesar Chavez Day is celebrated on March 31st to honor the life and work of Cesar Chavez, a civil rights leader and farmworker activist who fought for fair wages, better working conditions, and justice for farm laborers. Chavez believed in using peaceful protests, like marches and boycotts, to create change and make sure farmworkers were treated with respect. His leadership helped improve the lives of many workers and their families. We celebrate this day to remember his dedication to fairness, kindness, and standing up for what is right, and to encourage everyone to make a positive difference in their communities.
A Message from Principal Tellechea
Trimester 2 has come to an end and report cards will be sent home soon. Please keep in mind that report cards are a picture of your child’s achievement this school year. Your child’s report card reflects their progress towards the end of the year academic expectations. While every child has areas in need of improvement, it’s just as important to celebrate their successes! So, discuss the report card with your child and feel free to celebrate any small steps forward! Please don't hesitate to contact your student's teacher if you have any questions or concerns about their progress.
This month we are celebrating our Chapman Community Value of Identity and reminding students that they can feel good about who they are without making someone feel badly about who they are. In honor of this value, students will be learning a new Chapman song and dance to "What I am," by Sesame Street and Will.i.am. Click here to listen to the song and feel free to sing along!
Sincerely,
Cristi Tellechea
Principal
