Hello DeMello Families!
Happy Friday!
We hope this newsletter finds you all looking forward to a relaxing Memorial Day weekend!
This week, DeMello School was busy with literacy celebrations and field trips! On Monday, several of our 3rd graders were asked to help out at the district Special Olympics games. They came back with wonderful stories about the athletes, their talents and teamwork! We hope to make this a new tradition at DeMello and include more students in the years to come. A big THANK YOU to our own Dr. Heather Noyes-Fredette and PE teacher, Mr. Mike Capello for their help in getting our students there for this event!
This week we welcomed guest readers into the building to read some wonderful picture books to our students. Again, thanks go out to our teachers and staff for making these enjoyable moments a reality. AND, thanks to all of our guest readers for volunteering their time to share a story. π
Yesterday, we sent our 1st graders off to a soggy field trip to Buttonwood Park. The weather has certainly not been cooperating with us this month. However, I have to say that most of the students viewed today's trip as an adventure of sorts with lots of exciting stories to share about the rain and thunder. We hope they were able to find a bit of enjoyment in it allβπ
Last night, we held our annual DeMello Bingo for Books nights. Yet another big thank you to the DeMello Literacy Committee--Dr. Maucione, Mrs. Pickering, Mrs. Kolbeck, Miss Desmarais and Mrs. Amaral for putting on another exciting evening of pure bingo bliss!
That's a wrap for this week and already looking forward to next! Have a great weekend!
Bagged Lunch Available on June 17th!
Please note that bagged lunches will be available to students on the last day of school. Teachers will need to take a count of students who would like to take a lunch home soon.
DEF Spelling Team CORRECTION!π
Calling All KINDERGARTENERS!
As you may already know, the DeMello School is welcoming the three kindergarten classrooms from the Cushman School in the fall. We couldn't be more excited to have the kindergarten back at DeMello for the first time in many years! It will be wonderful to have these little ones here for the entirety of their elementary years. I can't wait to greet them in August!
Please see the attached Kindergarten registration flyer and be sure to register your K student as soon as possible. Also, if you know of anyone in town who has a child who will be 5 before September 1st, please encourage them to register immediately. The key to starting the new year successfully is in knowing how many kindergarten students we need to plan for, and planning starts NOW! Please visit the Kindergarten site at dartmouth.school for more information.
Thank you :)
