On this Memorial Day our hearts are filled with gratitude for the courageous men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice to secure our freedom. Our thoughts also turn to all the fallen soldiers who gave their heart and service to our community. To the families, we join you in honoring their lives and their immeasurable contributions to our world.

Dare to Dream Field Trip at URI
From Social Studies
Breakers newsletter
The RI Council for the Arts sponsored a fully funded field trip for students in US History II Honors to visit the Breakers in Newport. Students were highly intrigued by the architecture, art and history of the gilded age. As always, student behavior was impeccable; they represented Scituate High School admirably.
Quotes from the students regarding the trip:
“The Breaker Mansion is a marvelous sight to be seen. The mansion’s architecture and artistry are embodied by pure elegance. That elegance flourished through the years and remains a spectacle to this day.” - Julienne Gomez
“The amount of detail put in each room of The Breakers was truly impressive. The fact that this home was only used during the summer and considered a “cottage” by the Vanderbilt family seems shocking by today’s standards.” -William Polouski
“It was amazing to see all the architectural styles and all the art. Learning that they imported many things from other countries and embraced other cultures in the style of the house was interesting. My favorite part of the house was the grand staircase with a tapestry of the story of Alexander the Great with a beautiful stained glass ceiling.” -Jessica Adams
From ELA
Thanks to musician and artist Bob Schneider for visiting with Mrs. Stormont's AP Literature students. Bob shared his reactions to the students' literary analysis of several songs, and also offered his advice about creativity, pressure, and work ethic.
Academy of Biomedical Science
Students in Medical Interventions are working on a unit about preventing cancer. In this lab, students expose 2 strains of yeast to UV light to see the effect. Next, students will design an experiment to try to determine the best way to protect the yeast from UV damage.

In this training, participants will begin their journey in learning about the benefits of Conscious Discipline® through an overview of the program and examples of strategies that will help turn everyday conflict into learning opportunities. FAFSA Update *** Seniors!!
Dear Scituate High School Team,
We are excited to share the latest FAFSA update with you! As of the FAFSA data pull on 4/19/2024, Scituate High School has a 45.1% FAFSA completion rate! The federal data currently shows that your school has 41 FAFSAs and you are only 23 students away from reaching your goal of 70% completion. You can find updated FAFSA completion data as well as other resources on the FAFSA Dashboard.
The College Planning Center is a great resource to support your students with completing their FAFSA!
Please share these registration links widely with your networks!
Remind your students that it is not too late to complete the FAFSA! The FAFSA is required for 2 and 4 year institutions, the RI Promise (2 years free at CCRI!), and can also help students attending some trade schools!
If you are working with undocumented students, they also have an opportunity to fill out the Alternative Aid application! Click here for the application in English and Spanish.
If you need any additional support, please reach out to one of our two FAFSA ambassadors: Kyleen Carpenter kcarpenter@blackstoneacademy.org and/or Marlene Martinez martinezm@cfschools.net
Keep up the good work and reach out to counseling@ride.ri.gov with any questions or for additional support!
