Hello Vista Academy Families,

We finished our second full week of the 24-25 school year and ended it with our first Bulldog Boogie. Thanks to everyone who attended and celebrated our school and danced with us.

Labor Day - Tomorrow, September 2nd, there will be no school in observance of Labor Day. School will resume on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Picture Day is this Wednesday, September 4th. Wear your favorite outfits and bring your smiles!

Dance Conservatory Auditions for Grades 2-5 are this week!

Dance Auditions this Week

Spirit Squad Auditions are on Tuesday, September 3rd and The PACK Hip Hop auditions are on Thursday, September 5th. Both dance auditions are from 2:30-4:00 in the Dance Room. You must bring your completed paperwork with you to the audition. Dance packets are still available in the front office.

Foundation PTO Meeting

Our first in person Foundation PTO Meeting is this coming Wednesday evening (9/4) at 5 PM in the Community Room (RM 26). Please join us to learn about our upcoming events and how you can get involved with our PTO. Snacks will be served, and childcare will be available.

Garden Cleanup Party

Our first Garden Cleanup Party is this Saturday, September 7th from 8 AM - 11 AM. Please Come! We need lots of help to get our gardens weeded, cleanup and ready for harvesting and planting for our students.

Tickets are available for purchase online starting Tuesday Sept. 3. We are limited to 100 families. The cost is $25 per family and you are not required to spend the night. This is one of our most popular events of the year so secure your tickets quickly!

Please consider being an official member of our English Learner Advisory Committee! If you're interested, you just need to fill out the intent to run and plan to attend all 4 meeting dates. This is an opportunity to be a voting member and have your voice heard to support the needs of our English Learner community here at VAPA! We are looking for members to fill the role of President, Vice President, Secretary, PTO Liaison (also attends all PTO/Foundation meetings) and DELAC Representative (also attends monthly DELAC meetings, typically Mondays at 6pm at the VIC).

We are having our very first Dine-out of the year on September 20, 2024 from 4-8pm at Dave's Hot Chicken in Vista. 20% of the proceeds for those who show the flyer or mention Vista Academy will go directly to our school.

Kona ice will be here after school every Wednesday starting August 21st.

*All Kona Ice flavors are dairy-free, gluten free and peanut-free.

Sugar-free and dye-free flavors are available upon request.

It is HIGHLY recommended that you purchase Mobile Device Coverage Protection Plan. Every student has a device assigned to them and they are responsible for their devices all school year.

Renewal begins July 1st and ends June 30th each school year.

As an FYI: Cracked or damaged screen replacement per incident = $150

Chromebook total damage replacement per incident = $322

Sign Up for Before and/or After School Childcare

If you need before and/or after school childcare at Vista Academy, you MUST fill out an application ASAP. All families needing childcare for 24/25. You will need your child's 9-digit student ID, which can be found in parent portal. Please note that this application does not guarantee admission. Please see full flyer for details. Some students may qualify for free care.

In the 2024-2025 school year, all elementary schedules will be changing to include Minimum Day Mondays.

The schedule will be reflected as follows:

Mondays 8:00AM -12:58PM

Tuesday-Friday: 8:00AM- 2:18PM

*Gates open at 7:30 AM for breakfast. Students may not be dropped off before 7:30 AM for safety since we do not provide supervision before 7:30.

Breakfast will be available to students before school from 7:30-7:50 AM. Students are welcome to bring a snack to the tables during recess time, but they are encouraged to come to school early if they would like a free breakfast from the cafeteria.

Breakfast and lunch is free for all students at Vista Academy. You do not need to fill out an application.

We love our volunteers and cannot wait to welcome you on campus!

In order for volunteers to help in classrooms or outdoor spaces, here are the requirements:

• Must complete the VUSD Volunteer Application
• Review the Code of Conduct (images below)
• Must complete a TB questionnaire. If you have not had a history of TB, then you do the lab test. Please email our school nurse, Brenda VanDerPol, with any questions at brendavanderpol@vistausd.org.

2. Reach out to your teacher for volunteer opportunities OR any of our specialty teachers. Must pre-arrange to volunteer. Thank you!
