PTSA Presents
Golden Acorn and Golden Apple Awards
Every year, the West Seattle High School PTA recognizes individuals for their contributions to our students and school community with the Golden Acorn (outstanding volunteer) and Golden Apple (outstanding educator) Awards.
This year, the Golden Acorn is awarded to our PTSA President Holly Rikhof for her unwavering commitment to our school: leading the PTSA Board, volunteering at events, attending administrative and staff meetings to offer PTSA support, speaking to new teachers, giving her time to all the fundraisers and clubs at WSHS, and working on the budget that includes staff and students for next year. We are thankful to get one more year with Holly as our PTSA President.
The Golden Apple is awarded to Julia Harper and Ying Yu. Ms. Harper was nominated by students and staff for her dedication and support inside and outside of the classroom. She is our Tech Lead, Link advisor, and advisor to lunch clubs. Students are always welcome before and after school to meet with her. Ms. Yu was nominated by students and parents for her work with the PTSA, Multicultural Night, AAPI Assembly, and Lunar New Year. She grew our Chinese Language Classes and supports students inside and outside the classroom. She will be missed.
A special Outstanding Advocate is awarded this year to Stacey Fernandez, the WSHS Care Coordinator. Her dedication to our students has no bounds. She is an advisor to the Race and Equity Team, Multicultural Night, Union rep, and several student clubs. She conducts home visits, supports families in need, provides translation services, and runs our school food and clothing bank. No one works harder for our students and staff.
