Ralya Elementary launched its exciting STEAM Night journey recently with a school-wide science day! Our Monday Morning Meeting was extra special, with Mrs. Haagensen (dressed as the iconic Miss Frizzle from the Magic School Bus!) inspiring students to dive into a day of hands-on scientific exploration.
Throughout the day, students in every grade level engaged in fascinating experiments:
- 2nd graders investigated pumpkins and the physics of rolling objects down ramps.
- 3rd graders tested the strength of different paper towels.
- 4th graders explored the splatter patterns of various liquids.
- 5th graders experimented with ramps and angles to see how they affect the distance objects travel.
Every student learned about the scientific method, from asking questions and making predictions to collecting and analyzing data.
This science day served as the perfect kickoff to our annual STEAM Night project! This year, students are invited to explore any area of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) to create a project for our STEAM Night showcase on February 27th, 2025.
