A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
HOCO WEEK was a hit thanks to our GRHS STUCO, Ms. Torres - STUCO advisor, and GR staff that helped with the planning, prepping, and working even on the weekends to make it a GR-eat week for our Longhorns! We appreciate you! Thanks to all our Longhorns (students and staff) for being ALL IN with our dress up days! When STUCO "flipped the script" and had our staff dress up as students on generation's day....I had A LOT of dress coding going on! ;)
It's PSAT week for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders on Wednesday. Seniors MUST attend this day to participate in the senior rotations and be counted present. Otherwise, you will be using ONE of your absences that will count towards your exemptions.
Lanyards/ID's should be on the second you step through the doors each day. Please make sure you are following this rule as well as being in dress code!
The front office is open Monday- Friday 8:00-4:00pm to assist you. You can also directly email us or call 832-223-4200 during the same hours. We are happy to help!

PSAT DAY INFO! 9th -11th Testing and Seniors will have SENIOR MEETING (ATTENDANCE COUNTS)
The Preliminary SAT, also known as the PSAT/NMSQT® (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), is a practice version of the SAT exam. You can only take the PSAT once per year, and many students take the test in both 10th and 11th grade. If you earn a high score on the PSAT your junior year, you could qualify to receive a National Merit Scholarship—$180 million dollars in merit scholarships are awarded to students each year. The PSAT is 2 hours and 45 minutes long and tests your skills in reading, writing, and math. Unlike the SAT, the highest score possible on the PSAT is 1520. For our 9th graders, we offer the PSAT 8/9 to start preparing our students for the PSAT/NMSQT.
When: October 13, 2021
Who: ALL 9th, 10th and 11th graders
*Seniors MUST report to campus this day, or they will have to use one of their absences for the semester exemptions. Please report to the auditorium where attendance will be taken and Senior class meeting and rotations will take place.
What to bring for the test:

- 11th graders WILL BE PROVIDED a calculator assigned to them in their testing room
- Snack: all students can bring a snack that will be placed underneath their desk and can be eaten during the break between section 1 and section 2
- ID worn around neck
- #2 pencil

- 9th graders: 12:15-12:45
- 10th graders: 12:50-1:20

The Longhorns took the field against the Austin HS Bulldogs Thursday Night. It was the Horns homecoming game. The Horns took the contest 35-21. Defensively, Tim Fisher and Matthew Lambert worked to keep the Bulldogs offense behind the chains and down on the scoreboard. Offensively, the ground game was the strong suit, as the offense behind Hymond Drinkard and Jaden Shelton came close to 300 yards rushing. The Horns will have another short week before they play Rival Ridge Point as they continue district play.
