ANNOUNCING RUTGERS POSTDOC AFFINITY GROUPS
Rutgers Postdoc Parents and Caregivers (RPPC)
A new affinity group for parents and caregivers (broadly defined) who are current Rutgers Postdocs. Our mission is to provide 1) a community of peers facing similar challenges and celebrations and 2) resources for navigating the postdoc parent/caregiver life at Rutgers. All current Rutgers postdocs at any campus are welcome to join this online community which will hopefully lead to in person programming and events and resources. To receive an invite to the Slack workspace, please fill out this form. The first meeting will be held on Zoom, Monday August 19th at 2pm. Please join the Slack workspace for the Zoom link. Facilitated by postdoc Dr. Kat Denny
Post-Doc Affinity Group: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Tech Commercialization
Postdoctoral training is designed to attract and retain talent by nurturing leadership potential and preparing individuals for impactful careers in research and education. However, the prevalent mindset often reduces postdocs to support roles as expendable labor in academia, which needs to be reassessed. Postdoctoral scholars need to be trained as agents of innovation and catalysts for change in the scientific ecosystem. As a Technology transfer fellow and postdoc leader, I created this affinity group for innovation-minded post-docs interested in learning about new opportunities to bring a specific innovation forward or develop an entrepreneurial mindset. We can share opportunities, and experiences, and build community amongst these innovators to identify paths forward to commercialize technologies and create startup companies. The purpose of this affinity group is to share the experiences of different postdocs involved in any kind of innovation, Entrepreneurship, & Tech Commercialization training and fellowships.
We will use an MS Teams channel (Postdoc affinity group) for asynchronous conversations and Monthly meetings. I want to have our first meeting on Monday, September 9, 2024, 4-5 pm. I prefer in-person meetings, but likely 1 in-person get-together, with most meetings virtual. Facilitated by postdoc Dr. Faheem Faheem Ullah
Rutgers Postdoctoral Christian Community
Welcome to the Rutgers Postdoctoral Christian Community (RPCC), where faith and intellect converge in pursuit of deeper understanding. Our community is dedicated to fostering a supportive network for postdoctoral researchers who are passionate about exploring the intersection of faith and science, alongside the timeless wisdom of Aristotelian philosophy. Through engaging intellectual discussions and guest lectures, we aim to enrich our understanding of how faith influences scientific inquiry and vice versa. Whether you're interested in philosophical debates, networking with like-minded peers, or simply seeking a welcoming environment for meaningful conversations, our community offers a space where faith and reason harmoniously coexist. Join us as we delve into challenging topics, expand our knowledge, and build lasting connections among fellow postdocs committed to both academic excellence and spiritual exploration. Sign up on our google sheets and join our What’s app group chat to stay in touch and join us for our first event on Friday Sept 6 at 2pm. Brain Health Institute Postdoc Group
The newly formed Postdoctoral Alliance Working Group (PAWG) of BHI led by Drs. Jaclyn Eisdorfer and Aysegul Gungor Aydin is requesting your help to collect information for a database about Rutgers trainees (post-doc, PhD student, Master's, undergraduate) engaged in neuroscience, brain and mental health research. We are casting a wide net to capture all Rutgers trainees interested in brain research (basic, translation and clinical).
Please fill out the google form as soon as you can. This database can then serve as a listserv for us to disseminate important information to you, such as symposiums, seminars, travel awards, fellowships, outdoor events, and trivia nights, and even instructions on how to file your taxes on a fellowship.
This data will also serve YOU. We will compile anonymous trainee stats (# trainees, pubs, fellowships, etc.) for you to use in your grant and fellowship applications when you discuss the BHI.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this form!
