Mission Elementary
Riding the Wave of Excellence!
October 15, 2023
Dear Mission Families,
At Mission, our students are thriving and engaged in various exciting activities:
Second-grade students are deepening their understanding of how community resources support our residents in their Social Studies unit.
Fourth-grade students are exploring the fascinating world of sea animals, including the physiology of squids, as part of their science curriculum.
First-grade students are mastering the art of combining numbers to make ten, enhancing their math skills.
Preschool students are continually honing their social and independent skills.
Halloween:
After careful consideration and for the safety and inclusivity of all our students, we have decided not to allow costumes on Halloween Day.
While we understand that dressing up in costumes is fun we want to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all students. Costumes can sometimes be disruptive or make others uncomfortable.
Please join us for our Halloween Dance on Friday, October 27 from 5:00 - 7:00. Your student may wear their costume.
Parent/Teacher Conferences continue this week. Dismissal for students in grades TK-5 will be at 12:25pm. Preschool students continue their regular schedule. During your child's conference, please remember to stop by the Lost and Found bin. All leftover items will be donated to local charities on October 20, the last day of parent conferences.
Book Fair in the Library
Remember to stop by our library and check out our book fair this week! Scholastic brought many books that you can choose to buy for your child's reading pleasure and also support our library.
We are proud of the remarkable accomplishments of our Mission students!

Responsible Use of Technology
We want to emphasize the importance of monitoring and limiting your child's screen time and social media usage. While technology and social media can offer valuable educational and social opportunities, they also have the potential to become a significant distraction and, if not managed carefully, can have negative effects on your child's development. Below is tip number 1 of more to come.
TIP Number 1
Set Time Limits: Establish daily or weekly screen time limits based on your child's age and needs. Ensure they have enough time for other activities like homework, physical exercise, and social interactions.
