Tilden's Kaleidoscope: Colorful Moments in Our School Community
Dear Tilden Middle School Community,
What an incredible week we've had at Tilden! The energy and excitement on our campus have been truly inspiring, and I'm thrilled to share some highlights with you.
Our No Place for Hate Fun and Wellness Day was an absolute triumph! The enthusiasm was palpable as students and staff engaged in spirited Rock-Paper-Scissors tournaments, collaborated on creating inclusive door decorations, and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather in our outdoor spaces. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Levy and our Student Engagement Committee for orchestrating such a memorable event that strengthened our community bonds.
Looking ahead, we're excited to celebrate Native American Heritage Month in November. On October 30, our students will embark on a journey of discovery, exploring the rich cultures, languages, and traditions of Native American peoples. This immersive experience will allow our students to forge meaningful connections between their own lives and the vibrant tapestry of Native American heritage.
Next week, from October 21-25, Tilden joins MCPS in observing Mental Health Week. Our dedicated counselors have prepared engaging lunch activities focused on self-care, stress management, and mindfulness. I encourage you to reach out to your child's grade-level counselor for more information on these valuable resources.
As we approach the end of the first marking period on November 1, I want to remind everyone of the importance of finishing strong. Please take a moment to review your child's grades in ParentVue and encourage the completion of any outstanding assignments. Our teachers, administrators, and counselors are here to support your student's success, so don't hesitate to reach out if you need assistance.
Together, we're creating a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive learning environment at Tilden Middle School. Thank you for your continued partnership in this important work.
Here's to another fantastic week at Tilden!
Warmly,
Sapna Hopkins

They will support their thought with evidence from at least three sources. 7th graders will be asked to analyse sources about modifications the Incas made to their land in order to improve their lives in the high elevation of the Andes Mountains. 6th grade will justify if Hammaribi's code was fair or not. They will look at laws that showed both that the code of laws was created to help citizens remain safe but also laws that showed that the laws were unfair to some groups like women and enslaved people more so than other groups like land owning males.

Mr. Hutchison's classes will attend on Feb. 12, Mr. Polley's classes will attend on Feb. 13, and Mrs. Neumann (Taplar)'s classes will attend on Feb. 14. We need 17 volunteers per day. Volunteers do not need to be parents of students in the class - all adults are invited to attend. Please sign up at http://www.myja.org/caregivers/montgomery
